A Wednesday April 29, 1959 Senate Overrides Eisenhower Veto Washington -(LTD- The Sen ate voted by a slim margin Tuesday to override President Eisenhower's veto of a bill stripping Agriculture Secre tary Ezra T. Benson of his authority over rural electrifi cation loans. The roll call vote was 64 to 29, two votes' more than the necessary two-thirds mar gin. The measure, which Eisen hower rejected only Monday, was sent to the House where a two-thirds majority also is needed to over-ride. The REA showdown, an im portant political test for Dem ocrats in control of Congress, came with surprising quick ness. India Protests Chinese Speeches - New Delhi -UPB- The Indian government formally protest ed recent Communist Chinese speeches criticizing the Indian stand on Tibet, informed sources said Tuesday. The sources said Chinese Communist Ambassador Pan Tzu-li was called to the Ex ternal Affairs Ministry Mon day and handed a note pro testing the anti-Indian speech es made in the National Peoples Congress in Peiping. Official sources disclosed that 50,000 Tibetan refugees had poured into India in re cent weeks to escape the Chi nese suppression of the anti Communist revolt in Tibet.
