Day Held By Wednesday Study Club Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Klenner Marriage Announced Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Klen ner are making their home in the Roguevilla apartments, Talent, following their wed ding March 24 in Reno, Nev. The bride is the former Mickev Rose, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. V. A. Puddy, 3612 South Pacific highway. Mr. Klenner's parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Klenner, reside in Los Angeles. THe Rev. Ralph H. Carleton performed the marriage serv ice at 11 ajn. in the Park Wedding chapel. Mr. and Mrs. John Hutchison of Medford and Mrs. and Mrs. Murray Brae of Reno attended the couple. The bride wore a peach colored suit with white acces sories and a pink carnation corsage 'for the wedding. A buffet dinner at the Golden Rooster followed the cere mony. The bridegroom is employ ed by Austin L. King Truck ing company and the bride is employed by the Big Y market. Rectors Return - Mr. and Mrs. Claude Rector have returned to their home, 1220 Morrow road, after a vacation in A r i z o na and Texas. In Ft. Flurry, president, presided and introduced the guests and speaker. Mrs. Mark Goldy spoke of her extensive tour of Mediter ranean countries which she il lustrated with colored slides showing many Strang and exotic places. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth G. Bartrum of Puyallup, formerly of Ash land and Medford, announce the engagement of their daughter, Janice Lillian, to Ronald Dihel, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Dihel, Steven son, Wash. ' The bridegroom-elect is a graduate of Central Washing to college at Ellensburg and is presently completing army service at Fort Lawton in Seattle. Her g r e a t-great grandfa ther, Charles Coker, was one of the early settlers of the Rogue valley. Coker Butte was named for him. Their marriage is planned for May 24. Her wedding to Eldon Elder, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Elder Jr. of Shady Cove will be an event of June 6. Candles and bells provided the theme of the decorations in the rooms. Women to Hear Missionary Talk Mrs. Sterling Sorenson of Grace Memorial Episcopal church in Portland will speak at a luncheon of the Wom en's auxiliary of St. Mark's Episcopal church Friday noon, April 24. Because of the expected size of the meeting, it will be necessary for women plan ning to attend to make reser vations by calling the church office, SPring 3-3111, before noon April 22. Holy commu-iion will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Mrs. Sorenson and her hus band worked for three years as medical missionaries at a British - American School in Liberia, and recently returned to the United States. She will show slides to illustrate her talk. A baby sitter will be on duty from 12 noon. Miss Sonja Peterson Elected to Office ' Salem Miss Sonja Peter son of Medford was recently elected chaplain of Mu Phi Epsilon, women's music hon orary. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Emil Peterson, and is -a graduate of Medford High school. At Willamette, Miss Peterson is a junior ma joring in piano. She has held the Nancy Black Wallace music scholarship, among others, and is a past president of Mu Phi . Epsilon. Miss Dana Taylor became the bride of William F. Gath right in a ceremony held j Sunday, April 5, at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Howard L. Taylor, 515 West Eleventh street, Med ford. The double -ring cere mony was read by the Rev, William Piper, pastor of First Christian church at six o'clock in the evening. Forty relatives and close friends attended the wedding and reception. Arrangements of ivy with carnations and white stock made up the setting for the ceremony. The bride wore a blue chif fon over taffeta gown fashion ed with cap sleeves, close fitting bodice and bouffant ballerina length skirt. Her hat was of white flowers. She wore a pearl necklace and her bridal corsage was white carnations with pink rosebuds. "For something old" the bride carried a white lace heirloom handkerchief, which had been loaned to her for the occasion by a friend, Mrs. Leo Webster, Medford. Matron of honor was Mn. Leonard McMahan, Gold Hill, sister of the bride. Mrs. Mc Mahan wore a spring -print frock, with white accessories. Lanny C. Taylor, brother of the bride, served as best man for the bridegroom. . A 'reception followed the ceremony. The bride's table was covered with a white lace cover and centered with the wedding cake, encircled with pink rose buds and lily of the valley. White tapers in crys tal holders flanked the center arrangement. Mrs. McMahan and Mrs. Georgia Wilson, Gold Hill, made and decorat ed the wedding cake. Mrs. Kenneth Brown, Cave Junc tion, sister of the bride cut and served the cake. Of interest is the fact that the newlyweds selected the bride's mother's birthday an niversary for their wedding day. , Among the guests were the bride's paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. George T. Taylor, 424 King street, Med ford, who celebrated their sixty-first wedding annivers ary last February. The bride is' a graduate of Medford High . school. She came to the Rogue Valley with her parents to reside 12 years ago. Mr. Gathright, attended schools in Long geach, Calif, and is a graduate of Stern berg High school, Manila in the Philippines. He served four years in the United States Army with the medical corps during which he was stationed at Letterman' Gen eral hospital, San Francisco, in China and the Philippines. He also served two years with the Merchant Marine corps. He is employed by Pacific Fruit company and the newly weds will reside in Medford. School Reports ; 100 Per Cent PTA Enrollment Hoover School Parent Teacher association has attain ed 100 per cent family mem bership, according to an an nouncement at the April meet ing by Mrs. Emerson Ander son, president. The number represents 181 families. James Akerill was in charge of a square dancing and tum bling demonstration during the meeting and the fourth grade chorus, directed by Mrs. Marjorie Blaar, sang. Poppy posters from . seven Medford schools were dis played in the gymnasium. Scott Harrison of Jefferson school was the winner. Room count was won by Mrs. Esther Fliegel's fourth grade. Mother-Daughter Banquet Planned The annual mother-daughter banquet sponsored by the Woman's Society of Christian Service, First Methodist church, will be held Thurs- ' day, April 23, at 6:30 p.m. Decorations and entertain ment will follow the Centen nial theme, and those who have costumes for themselves or their daughters are asked to wear them. Tickets may be purchased through circle chairmen and should be purchased early, the committee states. Mothers' Club Elects Officers Mrs. Garner Couey was elected president of the Jack son county unit of the Oregon State College Mothers club at a meeting last Friday at the Rogue Valley Country club. Mrs. Ben Greaser was elect ed vice-president; Mrs. Lela Gilman, secretary; and Mrs. Wesley Baker, treasurer. They were installed by Mrs. C. D. Hershiser, past vice-president. Miss Helen Moor, dean of women at Oregon State, spoke on plans for mothers day at Corvallis May 1, 2 and 3. Miss Mary Robinson, assistant dean of women and a member of the scholarship committee and student loan fund, gave an outline of scholarship proce dures. Denise Bruning Named to Office Portland Miss Denise Bruning, Medford has been elected vice-president of the Associated Women Students, Lewis and Clark college. Miss Bruning will take office in May and will serve during the 1959-60 school year. The student, a sophomore in elementary education, is a member of Delta Phi Gm ma sorority and is an inter sorority council representa tive. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs, E D.
