Tourists to Washington sometimes display this same peculiar notion of the Presi dent's proper whereabouts. Frequently in the spring, tour ists will inquire of the White House police: "I know this is the White Houset but where does the President live - the Capitol?" Some letter writers try to make it about as hard as pos sible for their missives to reach the President because of the cute way in which they address their envelopes. . A letter addressed simply to Ike" can be .dropped m a New York City mailbox and wind up at the White House within a few days. And the way some of us spell his name when we write to him Issenhair, Eyzen- hour, Ikey. Hundreds of us, when we sit down to pour out our problems to a President, address our letters to him in red, white and blue. In fact, letters bearing only a crude crayon drawing of the Amer ican flag have been known to end up at the White House. If true, that is as good as some of the lesser profes sionals did in the recent Mas ters Tournament here. For Eisenhower, it is ex ceptionally good and even re markable for a man who had to lay off his game most of the winter. Actually, some of the Eis enhower admirers get carried away in their enthusiasm for his golfing ability and a 79 reported in their, fashion might be several strokes higher.
