Wednesday, April 15, 1959 4-1 CLUB NEWS Westside Hayburneri 4-H Horse Club The Westside Hayburners 4-H Horse club held their monthly meeting at the home of Penny Sampert, March 14. Roll call was answered by naming the parts of a saddle and bridle. Special reports were given at the meeting by Hether Rode, Craig Wright, Barbara Read, Marilyn Bretwold, Clint Gibson, Judy Bradshaw, Bon nie Cheney and Penny Samp ert. The members will give reports on breeds of horses and ponies at the next meet ing. The club planned and held a ride March 19. The next meeting will be held at the home of Linda Smith. Linda Gibson, Reporter. Table Rock Packrati The Table Rock Packrats met at the home of Mrs. Everette Brown, April 6 . The business meeting was called to order by the presi dent, Glenna Brown. The minutes were read and ap proved. We then went to work. The younger girls showed one of our leaders how to make a portfolio, for practice. While some of the younger girls were showing how to make a portfolio, other young er girls were having the holes drilled in their portfolio. The older girls were working on their projects. Carol Myers was absent with the measles. The meeting was adjourned. Anita Pierce, Reporter The Busy Stitchers and Stirrers 4-H club of Evans Valley met at the home of Kathy Johnston. We worked on our goals and program of work for this year. Marilyn Deckard demonstrated how to make a flat fell seam, after our leader explained the ad vantages of it in such articles of clothing as pedal pushers and pajamas. TCathv and Marilyn served refreshments of ginger bread, applesauce and whipped cream. Five members attended a workshop meeting on April 4 at the Frost home. Our leaders, Mrs. Frost, gave us several important pointers on bread making. Marilyn Deckard and Mary eda Frost demonstrated mix ing, kneading, and molding the loaves. Others making two loaves of bread were Kathy Johnston, Sharon Martin, and Jeane De Roboam. After lunch we had our business meeting, followed by singing. Two new members enrolled are Kathy Simer and Barbara De Roboam. While' the bread was bak ing, Kathy Johnston cut out her dress and we sewed. We judged the results and everyone went home happy to have home-made bread for supper. Maryeda Frost, Reporter. April 2 the Eagle Point Breadmakers were host to 'the first and second year cooking club. The combined meeting was held in the high school home economics room. Demonstrations were: cake by Bonnie Smith; brownies by Susi Carroll and Frances Huffman; plain muffins by Norma Noble, and cocoa by Ellen Hay and -Lauramay Noble. The business meeting was called to order by President Izora Hayes of the visiting cooking club- Mrs. Noble, . leader of the Breadmakers, and the junior leaders, Bon nie Smith, of the Shady Cove cooking club, and Norma No ble of the Breadmakers, were introduced to club membrs. During the meeting, the 4-H members discussed a com bined parent tea to be held in May. The next meeting will be held April 16, in the high school. The first and second year club will be host to the Breadmakers. Norma Noble, Reporter Little Chef's Cooking Club March 4, the Little Chef's cooking club had a short meet ing and went to Fluhrer's Bakery and saw the process of making bread. They . gave us cupcakes. The next meeting was held April 10 at the home of Terry Newcomb. A demonstration on how to make no-bake cook ies was given by Terry Cal houn. Her partner, Dianne Davy, was sick. The second demonstration on the proper way to measure and prepare muffins was given By Jeanette Nouguier, the junior leader of the Kitchen Maids. We played games and had refreshments. The next meeting will be April 24 at Terry Newcomb's home. A demonstration will be given by Joan Eslinger and Marcy Miller and four of the girls will make muffins.
