No date has been set for the wedding. Friendship Night To Be Celebrated Central Point - Friendship night will be held by Mt. Pitt Rebekah lodge at a meeting set for Wednesday, April 15, at 8 p.m. in Central Point Odd Fellows hall. Oregon's Cen tennial will be the theme. Mrs. James Beiter, publici ty chairman, asks all mem bers of Mt. Pitt lodge and vis itors from other lodges to wear Centennial dresses. - Adarel Officers To Be Honored Jacksonville - Adarel chap ter, Order of the Eastern Star, will meet Thursday, April 16,-at the Jacksonville Masonic temple. Mrs. George Mero, matron and Gail Buffington, patron, announce that officers and "side liners" will be honored and an evening of entertain ment and refreshments is j planned. Music Teachers To Hold Meeting In Ashland Home Mrs. Rawles Moore and Mrs. Dennis Hannan will speak at the Monday, April 13, meeting of Rogue Valley chapter, Oregon Music Teach ers assqeiation, at the Hannan home, 1090 Pleasant Way, Ashland. Mrs. Moore will speak on "Little Things of Music" and Mrs. Hannan's talk will be on the life and works of Arnold Schonberg. Plans for the club's activi ties during Music week will be made during the business meeting. Mrs. Effie Kurtz is chairman of the Music week events. Plans will also be made for the state audition and sylla bus examinations which will be held May 6 through 9 in Ashland and Medford. Teach ers are to submit the names of pupils and kind of examina tion to be taken so that a schedule may be arranged for the adjudicator, Mrs. Mary Arney. Teachers who desire to enter students in the All teacher spring recital to be held in Churchill hall, South ern Oregon college campus, Sunday, May 5, should take the name of the pupil and all information concerning the selections to be played, length of time and composer to the meeting. The annual recital is open to the public. Election of officers will be held at the meeting. I Luncheon Planned For Past Matrons Reames Social club will honor past matrons of Reames chapter, Order of Eastern Star, at the monthly luncheon, at 12 noon, Wednesday, April 15. in the Medford Masonic hall. Mrs. Eugene Dyke, presi dent will preside. The business meeting will be followed by an afternoon of cards. All Eastern Star members are welcome to at tend. The dinaer meeting was held at Rogue Valley Country club. Mrs. Anne Finley, chairman of the Altrusa information committee, was program chairman. Mrs. Edith Baker, first president of the local club, reviewed, the history of the group, organized May 24, 1952. Mrs. Bertha Haskins, chair man of vocational informa tion committee, was program chairman. Bertha Haskins, chair man of vocational informa tion, introduced Mrs. Don nely who spoke about her visiti to other clubs in the Twelfth district. The district includes Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Alaska and two Can adian provinces. The visitor also recounted some of the community service projects carried on by the various clubs. Altrusa was organized in April, 1917, in Nashville, Tenn., and is the oldest of the national service clubs for women. All Altrusa clubs commemorate the founding during April, and send con tributions of money to the International Founders' day fund. This is used for financ ial aid to older women who need help in preparing them selves for remunerative . employment. Miss Myita Otterdale Is president of Medford Altrusa Table decorations included a centerpiece of white iris and individual candleholders made in the shape of camel lias from marshmallows. Butte Falls HEC Announces Meeting Butte Falls - Butte Falls Home Economics club of the Grange will meet Tuesday, April 14, at 1:30 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Elga Abbott. All women in the commu nity who made dresses for the sewing contest are reminded to take them any time during the day. They are also invited to attend the meeting, it was reported. Girl Scouts Favors Mad Girls of Brownie Scout Troop 13 of the Hoover school district in Medford, furnished tray favors in the Saint Pat rick's Day theme for the pa tients at Rogue Valley Memor ial hospital. Troop 13 is led by Mrs. Robert R. Dickey and Mrs. Ray L. Casterline, and the girls who belong to it are in their first year of Scouting. They are Susan Barss, Karin Billingsley, Mary Ann Bolton, Julie Casterline, Kathy Dick ey, Cheryl Eddy, Mary Lynn Ellis, Jane Gordon, Marilyn Jones, Joan Leonard, Marily McQueen, S h e 1 l,e y Mitchell Cathy Pritchett, and Cathy Smith. In previous months, these girls have carried out a pro gram of handicraft, and serv ice in the home, in addition to several tours of local indus tries: a dairy, a fruitpacking plant, and a bakery. Now they are making costumes, and re hearsing for the Girl Scout Festival on May 28 as the cli max of this year of Brownie scouting. May Fellowship Luncheon Planned by Church Women Members of the Medford Council of United Church Women are preparing for the annual May Fellowship lunch eon set for May 1. Mrs. Ev erett Lasher, chairman, states the event will be of unusual interest both in luncheon and program ideas. Guests will include women who have been active Sunday school workers from nursery through sixth grade work, Each of the affiliated churches of the Council is asked to choose an outstanding teacher and to send names to Mrs, Workshop For Nurses Announced Mrs. Bertha. Byrne, execu tive secretary, Oregon Nurses association, will conduct a workshop, "Your Job and You," will be the theme and sessions will be held Wednes day, April 15, from 1 until 7 p.m. and Thursday, April 16, from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Red Cross auditorium. The workshop is sponsored by Oregon Nurses association, District 4, and will concern functions, standards and qual ifications and economic secur ity for the registered nurse. Mrs. Mathilda Young, vice chairman, American Nurses association committee on eco nomic security, will be a speaker. The program is designed to aid the individual nurse in evaluation of her nursing practice and to show how the nurse can best assist employ ers and the public in under standing the functions of spe cial categories of nurses. 4 SOC Librarian To Speak For Oak Grove PTA Mrs. Hazel Ann Hunt, li brarian of children's litera ture at Southern Oregon col lege, will speak at the Tues day, April 14, meeting of the Oak Grove School Parent- Teachers association. She will discuss school and public libraries, and how they may be used in helping children to further their en joyment of reading. Books will be displayed and book lists will be available. The theme will be discussed by a panel composed of the Rev. H. C. Coovert of Zion Lutheran church; Elliott Becken, Med ford public schools; Mrs. C. E. Chamberlain, Sunday School superintendent; Mrs. Thomas McCammant, representing the parent; Mrs. Robert Elliott, teacher of Sunday School; Mrs. Lyle J. Heidemann, in terested person who is with the Welcome Wagon program. The luncheon will be held in the dining rooms of First Methodist church and will be gin promptly at 12 noon. Mrs. Lyle Schoppert is chairman for luncheon arrangements and assisting her will be Mrs. Earl Bradfish and Mrs. Ber nard Niehaus. Immediately following the luncheon, the afternoon program will be presented in the church sanc tuary. Minister of the hostess church, Dr. George Roseberry, will give the table devotions and the Rev. John Powers, of the Episcopal church, will open the afternoon program with devotions. Money from the ticket sales goes to the Jackson County Board of Christian Education to further its work of teaching Bible history in the public schools. Miss Verna Cingcade, one of the teachers, will speak on behalf of the project and will give a flannelgraph story. The special needs of this de partment in religious educa tion will be given emphasis at this period of the program hour. ' It is announced that a nur sery will care for small chil dren and that all interested in the day's activities are in vited to attend. Plans for the Fellowship Day activities were discussed at a ' recent meeting of the Council board with the presi dent, Mrs. Everett Faber, pre siding. Meetings Announced By Roguette Circle Roguette circle. Military Order of Lady Bugs, will meet Tuesday, April 14, at 1:30 p.m. at the Veterans of Foreign Wars building. Members of the post and auxiliary of VFW will partici pate in the Ashland installa tion that evening at 8 p.m. in the Pioneer room near Lithia park. Piano Pupils Prepared For Examinations Pupils of Mrs. Darell Huson held "checking parties" re cently. Pupils were to play from memory all selections to be played in the syllabus and audition examinations which will be given by the state adjudicator, Mrs. Mary Arney, in May. Mrs. Kenneth Brown served as judge. Mrs. Huson introduced her four student teachers and out lined the way and methods in which the student teachers worked. These teachers were recently accepted as student affiliates in the Oregon Music Teachers association. They are Shirley Hopkins, Darelyn Huson, Sharon Laing and Ro berta Willett. Pupils who participated in the recitals were Scott Thurs ton, Ted Barker, Elliott Mey erding, Denise Thompson, Gil Nehring, Janet Price, Janet Barker, Jennifer Wilcox, Gregory Howes, Page Meyer ding, Penny Forbes, Ellen Montgomery, Nicki DeWitt, Alicia Buonocore, Ruth Wil cox, Penny Roach, Claud Hoover, Madelyn Buonocore, Margaret Doolen, Kathy De Witt, Margo Shreeve, John Barber, John Yoakley, Rilla Kaye, DenHerder, Roberta Willett, Charla Jo Meyer, Darelyn Huson, Julie Yoak ley, Shirley Hopkins, and Sharon Laing. Barracks, Auxiliary To Hold Meetings Medford Barracks and Auxiliary,-Veterans of World War I, will hold their monthly so cial meeting Wednesday, April 15, at the Girls Community club, 229 North Bartlett street. Purcell, Tempe, Ariz., announce the engagement of their daughter, Miss La Rhee Purcell, Central Point, to Donald Lee Louthan, son of Mr. and Mrs. S. D. Louthan, also of Tempe. Miss Purcell, a senior at Crater Lake High school, is making her home with her sister, Mrs. Kurt Curtis, 910 Oak street, Central Point. Mr. Louthan is enrolled at the University of Arizona. The wedding is planned for June 27 at Medford Church of Christ. . Santos Return After Vacation Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Santo, 204 Lozier lane, returned to their home recently following a five months vacation in Ari zona and Nevada. Prior to their return Mrs. Santo became ill and was hospitalized in Boulder City, Nevada, before arriving to Medford by plane. Mr. Santo, who brought the car and trailer back to the valley, re ported that Mrs. Santo is now convalescing at their home. Daughter Here On Navy Leave Miss Marcia Lee Presgrave, seaman in the United States Navy, arrived in Medford Fri day to spend a leave with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Gould, 409 South Peach street. Miss Presgrave is on duty at the Anacostia Naval Air station, Washington, D.C., as a storekeeper. Miss Presgrave, who trav eled to Oregon by way of Los Angeles where she also visit ed relatives,' is a graduate of Medford High school.
