Each article is a summary nf an actual report. The Family Council does not five advice: it merelv report with by responsible aeencies ana Mr. E. M. - They'll soon forget the whole thing. Frank M. There's no way out but marriage. Mr. E. M. - My wife and I have a heartbreaking prob lem involving our boy Frank. We harly know how to advise him. He is nearly 18 and has been going out with a girl of 15 for the past year. Recently he told us he wants to marry her before he goes into the service. When we laughed at the idea he became almost violent. Later he explained to me in private that he had to marry this girl because they had had intimate relations He said. the girl was not preg nant, but that she was very frightened about her future and feels that she will never be able to make a decent life unless they marry. I have told Frank that this is nonsense, that they were two foolish kids who have made a mistake and they'll both forget the whole thing in a couple of months. But he insists he must marry her. Frank M. - You could have knocked me over with a feather when my father took this thing the way he did. certainly thought he would want me to do the right thing by this girl. Anyway, in spite of what he says, I feel that we should get married. You see, this girl isn't just some little tramp. She is a very nice girl from a CUSTOM KILLING CLEAN - RELIABLE of Your.Ploc and Delivery to Your Locker Aging ' room available. Like me, she has had a religious upbringing and she never would have done this thing if it were not for me. It was all my fault. I didn't mean it to turn out that way. It just happened. The way I look at it, I could be responsible for ruin ing Doris' life. If she goes bad after this it would always be on my conscience. If she mar ries somebody else some day and always feels guilty about this it will also be my fault. I can't see any way out ex cept marriage. The Council - In his relief that the 15-year-old girl in volved in this case is not pregnant, Mr. E. M. seems to have overstepped the mark. He is not helping his son by dismissing this escapade so lightly. The fact that Frank has told his father the truth about his involvement with Doris indicates that there is a good background of trust and friendship between them. Much can be built on this, but Mr. E. M. must develop some consistency of outlook if he is to be able to help and guide his son. Obviously, Frank has been brought up to be serious in his standards and moral out look and it is foolish to throw all of that out of the window at the first pitfall. Instead he should be taught to extend his seriousness much further. He should be taught, for example, that marriage is not "a way out" of a moral mis step. He must know that two individuals contemp 1 a t i n g marriage must seriously and strongly care for one another and must want to make a home together. He should rec ognize that many, many prac tical issues must be consid ered. One important issue is whether or not the girl's par ents realize that she is con templating marriage.
