T. Brannock, contact representative, con tact office, VA Domiciliary, Camp White, said today. Approximately 500,000 pol icyholders may exchange their present five-year term policies for new term policies that carry the same face value at a greatly reduced premium cost. These savings are made possible by a continuing im provement in mortality rates resulting from a lengthening of the life span. The new policies are not re newable after the holder has passed his 50th birthday but must be converted to a perma nent plan before that date, if he wishes to continue protec tion beyond that date. In all other respects they carry the same protection of the present policies, Brannock said, Best Interest This restriction is consid ered to be in the best interest of policyholders in order to avoid the heavy increases in renewal term rates in later life. Brannock added that hold ers of the present term pol icies also have several plans of permanent insurance to which they can convert im mediately. However, the pre miums for permanent plans, while they never .increase, are in a higher bracket than term insurance, Veterans not wishing to in cur the expense at this time of the permanent type plans can saveoney while waiting by exchanging their original term policies to the new low-cost type, Brannock said. Both the present and the new term pol icies can be converted at any time, without physical exam ination to a VA permanent type plan.
