IDA POPE SNYDER Funeral services for Ida P. Snyder, Gold Hill, who died Friday in a local hospital, will be held Tuesday ati?:30 p.m. in Conger - Morris Funeral home. The Rev. George Rose berry of the First Methodist church will officiate. Commit tal will be in Rock Point cem etery, Gold Hill. Mrs. Snyder was born May 24, 1860, at Healdsburg, Calif. She was married to Ogden Snyder, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Snyder had lived in the Gold Hill area for 60 years. Surviving are two grand children, Mrs. George Huff man of Talent and Marvin Betts of Phoenix; one niece, Mrs. Alvina Cribbins, Myrtle Point and seven great-grandchildren. MRS. LOIS WILLIAMS Graveside services for Mrs. Lois Vivian Williams, 65, of 375 South Central ave., who died in a local hospital Thurs day, will be held at the Med ford IOOF cemetery Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. The Rev. George Roseberry of the First Metho dist church will officiate. Mrs. Williams was born in Newcross, Ind., March 8, 1894, and had been a resident of this area for the past 25 years. She is survived by her mother, Mrs. Harriett Lois In low of Medford, and one brother, Herman Talbot Inlow of Ottowa, 111. Perl Funeral home is in charge of arrangements. MRS. SUSAN SPENCER Funeral services for Mrs. Susan Irene Spencer, 89, of 120 Laurel st., who died in a local nursing home Friday, will be held at Perl Funeral home Monday at 1:30 p.m. The Rev. Raymond W. Hum will officiate. Interment will be in the Jacksonville cemetery. Mrs. Spencer was born in Jefferson county, Kansas, on Aug. 23, 1869, and had been a resident of this area for 29 years. She was a member of the Christian church. She was married to Fred L. Spencer on Nov. 22, 1885. Mr. Spencer died in 1954. Survivors include two sons, T. M. Spencer, Newport, and F. L. Spencer, Murphy; three daughters, Mrs. Pearl Britt son, Fresno, Calif.; Mrs. Gay Wood, Riverside, Calif., and Mrs. Mary Foster, Medford; 17 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Granvil Brittson, Loaland Brittson, Donald Brittson, Ronald Britt son, Roy House and Arnold Kornstad. MRS. OLGA L. SLACK Funeral services for Mrs. Olga L. JL.mil I""8 NAME IN BOOK Medford Mayor John Snider hands dedication papers to Thomas Robert Lorish, six months, son of Dr. and Mrs. Fred Lorish, 830 Minne Evangelist Dies Alter Heart Attack Monte E. Lasater, 69, of Se attle, Wash., died Saturday following a heart attack. Mr. Lasater, an ordained evange list with the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Lat ter Day Saints, was conduct ing a series" of missionary meetings at the local church at the time of his death. He was born July 8, 1889, in Lockwood, Mo., and had been a member of the Reorg anized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints since 1920. He was ordained a priest in 1922 and an elder in 1925. In April, 1934, he was or dained to high priest and held the office of bishop of Colum bia River for 21 years. He was ordained an evangelist April 12, 1956. He is survived by his wife, one son and a daughter, all Seattle. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Conger-Morris, funeral directors. Mrs. Slack was born Feb. 7, 1903, in Excel Township, Minn. She was married July 4, 1922, in Grand Forks, N.D., to George E. Slack, who sur vives. She had lived in south ern Oregon since 1945. Survivors, besides her hus band, include a son, Gaylord E. Slack, Rogue River; four brothers, Paul Koglin, Duluth, Minn.; Edwin Koglin, Good ridge, Minn.; Emil Koglin, of Thief River Falls, Minn.; and Reynold Koglin, of Cokato, Minn.; six sisters, Anna E. Koglin, Camrose, Alberta, Canada; Elsie M. I asked for riches, that I might be happy From HOTEL MEDFORD Tree on Minnesota Dedicated to Son Of Fred Lorishes A special dedication of a 'ISourwood" tree, or Oxyden drum Arboreum, marked the beginning of tree plantings on Minnesota st. last week. The tree was dedicated to Thomas Robert Lorish, six months, the son of Dr. and Mrs. Fred Lor ish of 830 Minnesota st. In a special ceremony, May or John Snider dedicated the tree to young Thomas, and placed his name in the May or's Memory Book of Trees in the city hall. The tree was presented to Mrs. Lorish by the Medford Tree committee iji recognition of her three years of work as chairman and cochairman of the landscape committee. Mrs. Lorish has been with the group since its inception. The same committee has se lected the Sourwood tree for Minnesota st. The tree was shipped in from the Scanlon nursery in Olmstead Falls, Ohio. The landscape committee is currently working on down town tree plantings, and re planting of the Eighth st. crossing of Bear creek where some trees had to be removed. HUSBANDLY PROTESTS Winfie4d, Mo. (UPD The only ballots that a pair of woman politicians here can be sure of losing are their hus bands'. Mrs. John Dean and Mrs. James Sayer are running for election as alderman. Their candidacies spurred their mates to put this joint protest ad in the local news paper: "A woman's place is in the home, not in politics." Braley Recently Promoted Charles Rease Braley was recently promoted to the rank of lieutenant commander in the United States Navy, ac cording to information re ceived from Philadelphia where he is stationed. Lt. Cmdr. Braley, at one time attended Medford schools and is a son of the late C. Rease Braley, who made his home at 245 Valley View dr., Medford, until his death sev eral weeks ago. Lt. Cmdr. and Mrs. Braley have three children, Charles R. rBaley III, Elizabeth, and William. The officer is receiv ing additional training at the Navy's aviation supply office in Philadelphia.
