Easier Xarlift' Set by Moose Lodge The Easter "carlift" spon sored by the Medford Moose lodge, will be conducted on Easter Sunday morning be tween 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. for persons needing transporta tion to Easter services. Those wishing to make res ervations may call SPring 2-4239, Huffman Truck and Auto Parts, or SPring 3-1654, Wilford S. Huffman, civic af fairs chairman. Calls also will be taken at the Moose hall, 11 Newtown gt., SPring 3-9129, Easter morning. The carlift is an annual Moose lodge program offered to all without charge. ADS IN DRIVE-INS New York -(UP&- The latest survey of drive-in theaters shows that 95 per cent are available for screen advertis ing, according to the Theatre- Screen Advertising bureau. The bureau reported that weekly attendance figures for drive-ins using advertising has reached 19,835,400 paid admissions. F. - Ruth's place is with her husband. Mrs. J. F. - She's safer un der our roof. Ruth R. - They can't boss me anymore. Mr. J. F. - Our daughter Ruth eloped six months ago at the age of 16. She married her high school boy friend who was just 18 and she went to live near his service base. A month ago she came home and said that she want ed to finish high school and stay with us until she and her husband can make a home to gether. She said she could hardly ever see him and she was very lonely down in this town where she was staying. Since she has come back she has been going out with some of her old girl friends and hangs around the corner drug store with them. I feel that she will get into trouble and get a bad reputation in no time. Now that she is mar ried her place is with her hus band. Mrs. J. F. - I think there is more chance of Ruth's get ting into trouble if she is left all alone more than half the time and hasn't anything to do. I think it's very good that she wants to finish high school and it's much better that she is safe under our roof than off somewhere on her own. Ruth R. - What is all this talk about "getting into trou ble?" I am a married woman and I know what I'm doing and I have a right to do as I please. I am going to get a part-time job and pay my own board. They can't boss me around the way they used to before. The Council: We agree with Ruth that there is a little too much stress on the possibility of her "getting into trouble." But there is also too little stress on the positive side of what she is going to do about her future. Ruth ha3 apparently found that marriage is not quite as simple as she had expected. Her parents can take it. for granted that there is a lot more behind her leaving her husband than she cares to ad mit even to herself. Probably she is ashamed and afraid to discuss the . whole story with them. We don't think that an in sistence that "her place" is with" her husband will help clear up Ruth's difficulties any more than simply offer ing her a temporary haven in her parents' home. She needs to grow up and the normal teen-age routes of sociability and dating are closed to her. She childishly refuses to ac cept this, but she has to be made aware of it, not through criticism of her pathetic at tempt to re-establish relation ships with her old girl friends, but through some positive guidance toward a different goal. Schooling and work expe rience are more important to Ruth now than ever, so she should be encouraged in these plans. Since she is already speaking of the home she hopes to make after her hus band comes out of the ser vice, she should also be en couraged to learn as much as possible about the domestic arts. This can be a very ab sorbing actvitiy if it is ap proached seriously. Ruth could take courses in home decoration and nutrition. As she learns and matures, Ruth will build up an en thusiasm for establishing that dream home with her hus band and she will gradually lose interest in her more childish activities. First Aid Course' Set at Gold Hill Gold Hill A five-session first aid course will begin Wednesday, March 25, at 8 p.m. in the Gold Hill Boy Scout hall, it was announced Friday. The course , sponsored by the Gold Hill Explorer Scouts, is a Red Cross accredited first aid course, an Explorer offi cial said. Ralph Merton, Cali fornia Oregon Power com pany employee, will be in structor. The course will be held every Wednesday for five weeks without charge. Every one in the Gold Hill area is in vited to attend. The course is part of an over-all plan by the Gold Hill Explorers to develop person nel trained to operate a small mobile rescue unit. Future plans include courses in aqua tic life-saving and all phases of first aid. Statistics reported by a drug company show that the mor tality rate is 75 per cent higher for single men than for married men and 50 per cent higher for single women than for wives.
