Dr. Hansen Checks Fruit Storage Here Dr. Elmer Hansen, horticul turist from Oregon State col lege, arrived in the valley Wednesday. HOSTESS SLAIN Tokyo - (UPD - Police in vestigated the mysterious death of a Japanese airline stewardess today on the the ory that she may have been strangled. The shoeless-coat-less body of Tomoko Takewa wa, 27, a stewardess for the British Overseas Airways Corps, BOAC, was found Tuesday night in a lonely sec tion of Tokyo's outskirts. An autopsy showed marks on her neck which police said indi cated she probably was strangled. Graham Scores Church Leaders Melbourne, Australia -(UPD-American evangelistB illy Graham last night scored "those Protestant church leaders who wash their dirty linen in public" by criticizing his Australian "crusade." "One thing you can say for the Roman Catholic church is that they don't disagree in public as Protestants do," Graham told a crowd of 10, 000 at the Melbourne show-; grounds. Graham has run into oppo sition from a few Anglican and other Protestant church leaders in Australia who crit icized his methods of evangel ism and contended his meet ings did not have a lasting effect. Porflander Wins Gin Rummy Play Las Vegas (UPD A 71-year-old retired hardware salesman from Portland today pocketed almost $20,000 for winning first place in the third annual International Gin Rummy Tournament. Harry Wilmarth's exact winnings were $19,542.91. He took the top prize by defeat ing the other finalist after two days of elimination play. In a 500-point game that lasted more than four hours, Wil marth beat D.C. Zee, Atlanta, Ga., 506-475 Thursday. Zee took home second place money amounting to $9,726.66 plus $90.91 from a player's pool.
