C. Anderson, operator of the local office, has announc ed. The Medford city council Thursday night authorized a sublease for Aetna, which has been operating obt of Aetna, Calif., for five years. The company specializes in power line patrol, transpor tation for fire controls, trans portation for any emergency, student training, and cooper ation with law enforcement agencies. One ' helicopter will be at the Medford airport at first, Anderson said. Anderson has been with the company for "about two years. , The company previously has transported helicopters to ' Medford by truck for service for the forest service and the California Oregon Power company. Included in equipment of the company is a French built Alouette helicopter, which is operated by a jet turbine engine. Grooming is another factor in making your choice, short coated dogs require little more than daily brushing, long coats need more attention, stylized coats must have perio dic stripping and trimming to keep their smart appearance. How much should the dog be fed? The best feeding gauge is to allow three quar ters of an ounce of food per pound of adult dog weight. About one pound for a 22 pound dog. This can be fed at dinner or divided into break fast and supper. Any time the dog doesn't finish his meal promptly, pick it up and do not offer anything else until the next regular feeding time. The dog's general condition and demeanor must be your guide. But don't be fooled by those limpid eyes, for dogs are the world's champion pan handlers. Overfeeding is no kindness. What is the best food for my dog? Any prepared food, either dried or wet-pack, pro duced by a reputable dog-food manufacturer, is preferable to the random rations contrived by the busy housewife out of scraps. What is the best way to housebreak my dog? The basic rule is that prevention is bet ter than punishment. A puppy should be taken out doors the first thing in the morning, right after a nap, after a romp, after every meal; the last thing at night, and always to the same spot. A young puppy should not be given the run of the house at first, for he will be bound to make mistakes. Dogs gen erally do not soil their beds. Don't punish your dog for mis takes, his mental process can not connect the punishment with the act. "Rubbing his nose in it" is imbecilic, the dog will merely be confused. Do dogs thrive better in the country than in the city? EDO CBOiTXjXDQO CDd Portland Jail Escapee Caught Portland - (UPD - A man who escaped ' from the Portland city jail last Sunday was back in custody Friday but police were looking for a federal prisoner who escaped after unlocking leg irons with a home-made key. ' Ronald P. Clancy, 21, who escaped from the city jail by sawing through a lock, was ar rested Thursday night. Ernest James Lopus, held on a Dyer act charge, escaped Thursday after being permit ted to enter a bathroom at Physicians and Surgeons hos pital. Police said he used a key fashioned from a piece of wire to unlock leg irons, cut a window screen and escaped while wearing a bath robe and slippers. He was ar rested last October on a charge of driving a stolen tractor from Sacramento to Medford. He was in the hospital for treatment of a back injury. Good Drivers Must Know More Than Just How to Steer, Department Says baiem - Almost everyone who drives a car considers himself a good driver. In fact, a recent survey in one eastern state disclosed that 34 per cent of the drivers interview ed thought sthey were "better than average" drivers. But to be a good driver, the Oregon department of motor vehicles says the motorists must know more than just how to steer and stop. He al so must have a thorough knowledge of state traffic laws. The department says it be lievas that many Oregon driv ers, even some who drive ev ery day, can't score 100 per cent on a test of their traffic law knowledge. Read the questions carefully; they are not as easy as they might at first appear. Here's the test: Headlights 1. At the conclusion of the pro gram, the regular business meeting was held with Master Lloyd Hoadley presiding. Hoadley explained the tree planting program of the Eagle Point ' Grange, stating that trees were available to any Grange member interested in carrying out the Centennial theme.
