Study the arrange ment of various parts of the eye as shown in the diagram. Any number of things can cause dim ness of sight. The cornea can lose its glass-like qualities, the lens can become clouded (cataract), or the optic nerve can be injured. A corneal transplant operation would not be considered unless there was something wrong with the cornea. A cataract operation would do no good unless the lens was affected. The eye is a com plicated organ so complicated that doctors spend years learning how it functions and what to do when things need fixing. Don't take chances by trying to guess what's wrong. See an eye doctor. Q. "Will you please write about canker sores?" A constant reader. A. The exact cause isn't inown. These bean-size, crater-like mouth ulcers which form without any apparent reason, are quite pain ful, and usually last a week or more. Home remedies do little good. Antibiotics have been ap plied to canker sores and seem to help in certain cases. A British doctor recently reported a num ber of mouth-ulcer cures follow ing use of special slow dissolving tablets which patients held in the mouth. The tablets relieved the pain within a few hours and has tened healing. Ordinary canker sores usually heal within a rea sonable time. . Mouth sores that drag on should be examined by a physician or dentist. Answers do not necessarily reflect the opinion of all doctors.
