Each article is a summary of an actual report. The Family Council does not give advice; it merely reports on problems that have been dealt with by responsible agencies and counselors. Larry J. - Life would be beautiful if she'd say yes. Betly S.-I feel like making him suffer as I suffered. Larry J I've made a ter rible mess, and I'm trying to straighten out. I only need the help of the girl I love-she doesn't want to give it to me. Betty and I were engaged to be married, but I got into trouble with another girl. I had to break the engagement and marry Lee; Now after a year of married life, Lee tells me that she's pretty sure the baby isn't even mine. We fight all the time and we actually hate each other. I never can stop loving Betty and I told her so at the time I broke the engagement. I can't stand the life I'm liv ing and I can't believe that at the age of 23 I have to just give in and take my pun ishment. Life would be so beautiful if Betty would just say yes. Betty S.-I really don't know what to dc. I feel like making Larry suffer now the way he made me suffer, but I may be cutting off my nose to spite my face. I certainly was in love with him once and I'm not sure I'm cured. Larry pointed out one thing I ve always felt guilty about. We used to do some heavy petting "when we were going together, but I refused to go all the way. It may have been my fault that he was driven to this girl. I was hit so hard by what Larry did that for many months I was unable even to walk out in the street with my head up. Everybody knew what happened. It is only in the past few months that I've managed to pull myself to gether and start dating again , . and now this . . . i The Council: Larry appears to be reaching toward Betty as to a lifeline to save him from his miserable fate. His humility and need for her must taste sweet after her bitter experience but she should not allow herself to be tricked by it. Betty's degree of responsi bility for the mess Larry has made is a relative small one. Larry was a responsible adult and might have chosen to be have differently. Larry's mess is something he must work out for himself and Betty would be very fool ish to get herself involved at this point. Larry cannot Millard, Crawford Named Judges Pro Tern Salem-(UPD-The Oregon Su preme Court announced that it has appointed Circuit Judges James W. Crawford, Portland, and Orval J. Mil lard, Grants Pass, to serve as judges pro tem of the high court. Portland- (UPD -Cleanshaven Ray Calvert, Umatilla county Centennial chairman, said Fri day that beard-growing is be ing officially discouraged in his county. "We think it's un sanitary, unsightly and wholly unnecessary," he said. 3:30 Edge of Night 40 -Matinee 5:00 ChaF tain's Corner 5:05 Uncle Bill 5 :20 Flash Gordon 6:00 Weatner 6 05 Newi 6:15 Doug Edwards 6:30 Name That Tune 7:00 Tht Texan 7:30 Father Knows Best 8:00 Dannv Thomas 8:30 Ann Sothern 9 0 Desilu Playhouse 10:00 Janet Dean 10:30 News 11:05 Sign Off 10:00 Great Decisions 10:30 News 10:35 Hall of Fame "War 1135 Sign Off Nurse" Pete's RADIO & TV SERVICE 3791 Hilsinger Rd. He has to take on the responsibility for creating a decent life of some sort for himself. Betty has taken the first steps toward rehabilitating her own future. She needs time and freedom from jelly spined individuals like Larry if she is to profit from experi ence and find a better future. Betty would be wise to step out of her now-tangled emo tions involving Larry and thank her lucky stars that there are no obstacles in the way of her creating a life with a man who will help her uphold her own standards for courtship and marriage.
