Conant, president of Harvard university, made a report on a two-year study of American high schools to day at the closing session of the National School Boards Association convention. A summary of the results was distributed to the 5,000 delegates Tuesday night. It Highlights of Eisenhower's News Conference Washington - (UPD - Follow, ing are highlights from Presi dent Eisenhower s news con ference today: -Responding to demands by key Republicans that he take a more decisive role in out lining the aims of the GOP, he said that if Republican leaders did not know what he stood for they had simply failed to read, as carefully as they should, six State -of the Union messages and two plat forms which the Republicans themselves drafted. -He would like to go to Mexico in the near future, but definite plans have not been made. Source of Pride -He said American produa tion and development of in tercontinental ballistic mis siles was showing remarkable progress and should be a con stant source of American pride, not any reason for hang-dog humiliation. -As for the claim Tuesday that Russia is now mass-producing ICBMs, Eisenhower doubted whether 100 per cent credence in such statements was justified. -Eisenhower said he would welcome conferences at any time with Democrats, as well as Republicans, in Congress on pending legislation. He said the same held for gov ernors from both parties.
