FAST COURTEOUS SERVICE Open 8 to 5 Weekdays and Sundays at STAGECOACH ORCHARDS Maria Callas Sues Rome Opera House Rome - (UPD - Fiery opera singer Maria Meneghini Cal las has. sued the Rome Opera House for damages for bar ring her from its stage. The Opera House management called her suit "ridiculous" and threatened a counter suit. The soprano's suit stemmed from her walkout at Rome's premier performance last Jan. 2 before a glittering audience which included Italian President Giovanni Gronchi. She quit the per formance of "Norma" after the second act, pleading hoarseness. The incident caused a na tionwide howl, and the Opera House management replaced the New York-born singer in following performances on grounds of public order. The dispute was one of a series Miss Callas has had with some of the world's leading opera houses. She has had tiffs in Edinburgh and San Francisco, and recently was dropped from the rosters of the New York Metropoli tan Opera House and Milan's famous La Scala.
