Missile Launched
From B58 Plane
Washington (UPD The
launching of a test ballistic

an indication bomber-carried
ballistic missiles may be de

It was learned that the test
launching was conducted at
Cape Canaveral, Fla., last
Friday. Official sources said
the test was a major weapons
breakthrough.
The test caused revision of
the schedule for the develop
ment of the air-launched mis
siles. It had been expected
previously that the develop
ment w6uld take several
years beyond the new 1961
date.
In the Friday test, a Con
vair B-58 successfully launch
ed a Lockheed test missile
while flying more than 1,000
miles an hour. The solid-pro-pellant
missile in the test was
known as the "1 99."
