The Thirteenth Sabbath mission offering usually giv en ton the last Saturday of each quarter will be given Saturday. The Sabbath schools in the Rogue valley will join those in all of North America In special programs tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. pre ceding the receding of the offering. Each quarter a specific mission area is studied, . and the Thirteenth Sabbath over flow offering is sent to that area to be used for projects that need it the most. The Inca union in South America will be the recipient Ml. Pill Schedules Christmas Events Mt. Pitt Avenue Church of the Nazarane will present two Christmas programs Sun day. During the Sunday school hour, 9:45 a.m., the children will present the Christmas message in song and recita tion. There will be individual and group participation by children of all ages. The pro gram is under the direction of Mrs. William Gaines and Mrs. Henry Brown. Sunday at 6 p.m. there will be a musical program under the direction of Mrs. Roland Kruggel. At this time there will be various singing and instrumental combinations presenting the best-1 o v e d Christmas songs. Also the Christmas story from the Bi ble will be interwoven into the program. Musical Program Set for Sunday The annual Christmas mu sical program by" the adult choir of First Baptist church will be given Sunday at 7:45 p.m. and will feature Christ mas carols from many lands. Carols of early French and English, Italian, Ukrainian, German, and Austrian origin, American folk carols, and two from the works of J. S. Bach are included on the program. Kenneth Raymond is director of the choral group; Mrs. Ted Graham, or ganist; and Miss Diane Frank lin, pianist. The public is in vited to this sacred concert. 'Christ - The First Born" will be the subject of the message by the Rev James Neely, pastor at 11 ajn. Christmas music will be pro vided by the adult choir at the service. A short Christmas worship and prayer service conducted by the pastor will be held on Christmas eve at the church, beginning at 7:45 p.m. Pilgrim Holiness Tells Sunday Topic The Rev. Sherman Moore, pastor of the Medford Pilgrim Holiness church, will speak on Where is He?" Sunday at the morning service. Soloist will be Mrs. Hayden Allen. The church school will pre sent its Christmas program Sunday at 7:30 p.m. All the children in the school will participate. The contribution of the young people's department will be the four act play, "Why Christmas?" Tradition al Christmas treats will be distributed. Departments to Present Annual Program Sunday Children of all departments of the Sunday school will par ticipate in the annual Christ mas program of the First Church of the Nazarene, 520 North Holly st. to be given Sunday at 9:45 ajn. The program coordinator is Mrs. A. M. Miller with the supervisor of each department in charge of their group. Mrs. A. Stewart, nursery depart ment supervisor, will direct the recitations and songs of that department. The kinder garten department will be celebrating Christ's birthday in their recitations and songs, Mrs. C. Foster and Mrs. R. Speer in charge. Primary de partment, under the direction of Mrs. A. M. Miller, will be giving recitations and singing "Baby Jesus" and "Silent Night." The junior choir under the direction of Mrs. William Brewster will sing "Joy to the World" and "It Came Upon a Midnight Clear." The worship service at 11 a.m., to be broadcast on sta tion KDOV, will be the Christmas message by the Rev. Raymond W. Hum, pas tor. The sanctuary choir will sing "Star of the Prince of Peace" with the Baritone sol oist George McUne Jr. Ascension Lutheran Announce Activities "The Faithful Herald" will be the Sunday 11 a.m. divine worship service subject at Ascension Lutheran church, 2501 Barnett rd. The Rev. El vin S. Tollefson, pastor, will speak. Following the service the senior and junior choirs will rehearse. A rehearsal will al so be held Saturday at 9 a.m. During the afternoon the Christmas trees will be trimmed. Presents for the poor may be left at the tree in the narthex. Candlelighting Service Planned for Sunday A Christmas candlelighting service will be held Sunday at 11 a.m. at Unity Center of Medford service at the Pyth ian hall, Fifth and Grape sts. Friday, Dec. 26, the Worn en of Unity will hear "Love, the Supreme Gift", at the meeting at 11 a.m. A potluck luncheon will be held. During the holiday season other classes at the center will be recessed until Jan. 8. PLAYLET PLANNED The Overcomer's group of Open Bible Standard church will present a playlet "Watch man, Tell Us of the Night" Sunday at the church at 7 p.m. The Sunday school pro gram will be held at 10 a.m. and treats will ge given to all the children. TAX DAY Jacksonville - The Sunday school Christmas program at Assembly of God church, will be presented Sunday at 11 ajn. with all classes partici pating in the event. The 7:30 pjn. the young people will present the play "Tax Day in Bethlehem." 1957 Award of Merit Winner Community Bible Church Schedules Cantata, and Sunday School Program Central Point The Christ mas Choir cantata "Memories of the Manger" will be pre sented by the choir of the Community Bible church Sun day, at 6 p.m. at Camp White and at 7:30 p.m. at the Com munity Bible church, Central Point. The cantata "Memories of the Manger" presents the fa miliar Christmas story in a unique manner with the use of a specially prepared color ed film strip. The pictures are shown on the screen through out the singing of the musical numbers. - The church choir is under the direction of Mrs. Paul Kroon and accompanied at the piano by Miss Dorothy Law ton. Featured soloists include Mrs. John Clark, soprano; Miss Elaine Kroon, soprano; Jerry Holdridge, baritone, and Miss Beverly Todd, alto. Sunday at the 11 ajn, serv ice at the church, the pastor. the Rev. Paul Kroon, will de liver the Christmas sermon entitled "God's Price less Gift". The choir, under the direction of Mrs. Kroon, will sing the anthem "He Shall be Great". The Sunday school program of the church will be present ed Monday, Dec. 22, at 7:45 p.m. The program will be pre sented in two parts. The first will feature the nurserv through the intermediate de partments with songs, recita tions and short exercises. The second part will pre sent the pageant, "Christ Our Christmas Events Planned by Group Worship at the Congrega tional church Christmas Sun day will be at the usual 10 a.m. hour. Visitors are wel come, but their attention is called to the early hour of worship. Church school meets at the same time and there will be a program Sunday. Mrs. Elton Waldron, superin tendent will be in charge. The sermon by the Rev. Thomas McCamant will be on "The Silent, Holy Night," based on the favorite carol. The choir anthem will be "Sing, Gloria." At 7:30 p.m. the church school will present the pag eant, "The Littlest Shep herd." It is directed by Mrs. Ivan Burton. Mrs. Gene Chamberlain and Carroll Graber are in charge of the singing groups. Advent Season Close To be Observed Here The close of the Advent Season will be observed at the Church of the Brethren Sunday in two services. In the morning worship the children's choir will sing un der the direction of Mrs. Ray Pence. The children's depart ment will conduct the worship with the use of the Nativity hymns and the Gospel narra tives of the Nativity. The pas tor, the Rev. Escil Hiser, will preach, using as his topic "Let God Be True." The service . at 7:30 p.m. will be given by the youth fellowship. A Christmas pag eant will be presented, en titled, "The Story of the Christmas Angel." The youth choir will be directed by Mrs. Floyd Evernden. Refreshments will be served in the fellowship hall follow ing the service. Children to Share In Adult Service Children of First Church of God will share in the adult worship service Sunday. They will take their "offer ing banks" for Christ's birth day offering which goes to World Missions support. The pastor, the Rev. W. E. Martin, will speak on "Why Did He Come." At 7:30 pjn. Sunday the Christmas play "The Su preme Gift" will be present ed. Mrs. Everette Noss is di rector for the production. Treats will' be given all children that attend. ATTENTION! Sunday, CHURCH NEWS National Religious Publicity Council Hope" an original pageant written by members of the congregation. The members of the pageant are taken from all departments of the Sunday school and the musical num bers are sung by the senior and junior choirs and a group of carolers. Directors of the pageant are: Mrs. Clair Higinbotham, Mrs. Paul Kroon, Mrs. Alvin Alexander, and Mrs. Dan Scott. Eastwood Baptist Schedules Play Eastwood Baptist church, North Keene Way dr. at Ridgeway ave., will present its church school program at 5 p.m. Sunday. Featured will be all of the children of the school in a play entitled, "Lit tle Children Tell of Jesus." The junior high and senior high young people will por tray the manger scene in pan tomime and the senior choir will sing two numbers. Direc tor of the program is Mrs. John Yungen, with Mrs. Dean Anderson and Mrs. Richard Jones in charge of the music and Mrs. J. T. Johnson in charge of costumes. "Christmas Contrasts" is the title of the sermon for Christmas Sunday at the 11 a.m. service by the pastor, the Rev. Richard M. Jones. The chancel choir, under he di rection of Mrs. Jones, will sing "Sing Gloria!" Nursery care is provided for both church school and morning worship hours. Eastwood Baptist church is located north of Hedrick Jun ior High school and is affili ated with the American Bap tist convention. Visitors are welcome to all services. Zion Lutheran Tells Christmas Program The annual Christmas pro gram wiE be held Sunday at 5 p.m. at Zion. Lutheran church. Theme for the pro gram will be "Hanging of the Greens" with individual readers, the junior and speak ing choirs, and 200 young people from the four depart ments. The nativity scene will be included in the pro duction. Saturday at 1:30 p.m. a dress rehearsal will be held at the church. A Christmas treat will be given all stud ents at that time. The Rev. H. C. Covert, pas tor, will speak on "The Real Spirit of Christmas" at the 11 a.m. service Sunday. The sen ior choir will sing "The Real Spirit of Christmas" at the 11 a.m. -service Sunday. The senior choir will sing "The Birthday of the King." New' members will be re ceived at the service. There will also be an installation of officers and chairmen of the women of the church. Sunday at 6:30 p.m. the Senior Luther league will meet for a dessert at the home of Margaret Tizekher, 2116 East Main st. The church will hold a Christmas eve service at 11 p.m. Wednesday. Gold Hill Methodist Schedules Pageant Gold Hill - The Christmas pageant, "As We Forgive," will be presented Sunday at 7:30 p.m. by six children of the Community Methodist church Sunday school depart ment. Included in the pro gram will be songs and reci tations under the direction of Mrs. Paul Molloy. At the 11 a.m. worship ser vice Sunday the choir . will sing "Angel Voices Ever Singing." The . trio, including Mrs. C. Norman Gail, Mrs. Paul Molloy and Mrs. Roy Eskew, will speak "Come Un to Him." Mrs. John Bruce will be organist. UNITY FRIENDS! Sermons and Songs For Sunday Told "The Purpose of Christ mas" will be the title of the sermon the Rev. William C. Piper will preach at both ser vices Sunday morning at the First Christian church. At the 8:30 service the chancel choir will sing the anthem "Awake, Awake" and at the 10:55 service they will sing "He Shall be Great." A violin duet "Cantique De Noel" will be played at both services by Miss Priscilla Shafer and Robert Allen. A coffee hour will follow the later service. Nursery care will be provided for both services. At 7:30 p.m. the chancel choir under the direction of Mrs. W. C. Piper will present the cantata "The King Com eth." Miss Oveta Walden will be at the organ and Mrs. Ma bel Sims at the piano. Solo parts will be sung by Mrs. Ralph Matlack, Mrs Robert Reaves, Mrs. Arthur Hotho, Miss Oveta Walden, Mrs. Walter Larsen, Mrs. Vera Selby, Mr. and Mrs. Marme Olson, Mr. and Mrs. William Preston and Herbert Sims. A reception honoring the choir will be held follow ing the cantata. The public is welcome to all services. Sams Valley Church Collects Clothing Sams Valley Women of the Sams Valley Gospel church are collecting cloth ing of all kinds to be sent to needy people in Mexico, it was reported. The clothing will be sent to Mr. and Mrs. Harold Berger, missionaries there. The women of the church will make needed repairs on the garments. Persons having items to donate may contact Mrs. Floyd Sherman, ULrich 5-1073 for pick up. Piper County Presbyterians Tell Christmas Plans, Topics Jacksonville Wednesday, Dec. 24, from 7:30 until 8:15 pjn. at the First Presbyter ian church the Christmas eve candlelight communion ser vice will be held. According to the pastor, the Rev. King K. Jones, Jr., the service is planned to make Christmas more meaningful. Sunday at 4 pjn. the Sun day school Christmas pro gram will be held followed by a fellowship time. The young people of the church will join the young people of the Village church and go caroling throughout Jacksonville Sunday evening. Bethel Group To Hold Service In New Building The Bethel Assembly of God will occupy its new church building at 1225 East McAndrews rd., Sunday, ac cording to the Rev. Lawrence Krause, pastor. Although not completely finished, it has been the vis ion of the congregation to be in its new church for Christ mas Sunday this year, he ex plained. Construction on the new 44 by 110 foot building be gun a year and a half ago. This includes an extended 20 feet which provides protec tion from the weather for automobile passengers. The sanctuary is of open-beam design. There is ample park ing space near the building. The greatest part of the construction was made pos sible by donated labor of the members and friends of the congregation. The plan for the structure was drawn by Al Gandt, Medford designer. Roy Hageman was chairman of the building committee, which included Homer Bran- som, Gordon Conrad and Chester Keene, deacons. The congregation was first formed in October, 1953 and met for seven months in Pythian hall. A building was rented at 1729 North River side, ave. and was used to hold services until last week The Rev. E. L. Friend served as pastor of the congregation until November, 1954, after which Mr. Krause was called to serve as pastor. Services Sunday at the new location include Sunday school at 9:45 ajn., worship at 11 a.m. and the Christmas program at 7 p.m. The guest speaker for the day will be Evangelist David Godwin of Dallas Texas. Children will receive treats at the Christ mas program. The public is invited to at tend all services. Porter Selects Boss of Office Eugene - Mrs. Virginia Wysong, Eugene, has been named to take charge of Rep. Charles O. Porter's Fourth District office which is locat ed at 858 Pearl St., Eugene, Room 200. Mrs. Wysong held a similar position during Representa tive Porter's first term in Congress. She is the wife of Alison C. Wysong, former Demc cratis county chairman for Lane county. The Wysongs have four daughters. Mrs. Wysong is active m schools matters. She is Eu gene kindergarten chairman and president of the Magladry PTA. She is a member of the Women's Overseas Service League and the Episcopal Junior Women's Guild of Springfield. In announcing Mrs. Wy- son's appointment, Repre sentative Porter said his re search assistant, Miss Laura Olson, would return to Wash ington, D.C., shortly after Christmas. Miss Olson has been working out of the con gressman's Eugene office. Porter and his family are now in Washington, D.C. His administrative assistant, Jack L. Billings, and his secretary, Miss Barbara Burke, also have returned there. Local Church Sets Camp White Concert The annual concert put on at Camp White by the Apos tolic Faith orchestra and chorus will be heard Sunday at 3 p.m. in the theater. The concert will take the place of the weekly young people's meeting that is usually held in the young people's chapel at the church. Christmas music by the orchestra and chorus will be featured at both the morn ing and evening services Sun day in the church. Christmas morning the orchestra, organ, and chorus will play an ap propriate program before the sermon and will be heard in a full evening of music a week later on Tuesday, Dec. 31. The children arranged the project themselves, a church spokesman report ed, instead of having candy treats distributed at the lo cal church this Christmas. 1st Assembly of God Sets Sacred Cantata A sacred cantata entitled Music of Christmas" will be presented Sunday at 7:30 pjn. by the 35-voice choir of First Assembly of God, 1108 West Main st., under the direction of Mrs. Dwight D. Stiles. Prior to the cantata a musi cal prelude will be presented by Mrs. George Heide, organ ist, and Mrs. Lloyd Thornton, pianist. Bob Heide will play a trumpet solo, "The Holy City." Junior Girls Have Project for Home Gold Hill - Members of the girls' class of the junior department at the Christian church have made and equip ped sewing boxes during the past year for the orphanage.
