Neuberger, to a posi tion on the board of directors of the American Association for the United Nations was an nounced today. Mrs. Neuberger was named to a four-year term on the board of the association, whose officers include Mrs. Eleanor Roosevelt and Palmer Hoyt, publisher of The Den ver Post and former publisher of The Oregonian. Other mem bers of the board include for mer Senator Herbert Lehman of New York,. Paul G. Hoff man, Dr. Ralph J. Bunche, John R. Boettiger, Mrs. Eu genie Anderson and Anna Lord Strauss. . The association is affiliated with the World Federation of United Nations Associations, Mrs. Neuberger explained, and its program is devoted to attainment of world peace through the work of the Unit ed Nations organization. As a member of the board of direc tors, Mrs. Neuberger will help determine policies to promote public knowledge and under standing of the United Na tions. Mrs. Neuberger has been in vited to attend the meeting of the board scheduled for Jan uary 28 in New York City. The Neubergers have had a long "interest in progress of the United Nations. While in Army service during World War II, Neuberger attended the 1945 UN Charter Confer ence in San Francisco as an official observer. Mrs. Neu berger has addressed a num ber of women's organizations on UN programs to improve world health and education and raise the status of women in under-developed countries. Townsend Club Schedules Events Medford Townsend club will hold a bazaar and plant sale beginning at 10 a.m. Sat urday, December 13, at the Eagles hall, 217 West Main street. The club will meet Wednes day, December 10, according to the club president, Leon Rusho. Bliss Hiene, program chairman, is planning musi cal entertainment for the g-jup. SP 3-4264 Gold Hill Couple Wed in Medford; Bride Honored Gold Hill-Mrs. Lee Matney was honored at a surprise wedding shower given at the Odd Fellows lodge hall in Gold Hill by members of Amethyst Rebekah lodge, of which she is an active mem ber. Mrs. Matney, the former Mrs. Mabel Davis, and Mr. Matney were married Satur day, November 22, in Meeker Memorial chapel, First Meth odist church, Medford. Dr. G. G. Roseberry, pastor of the church, officiated at the 4:30 o'clock afternoon ceremony, attended only by the bride's son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Davis of Central Point. For her wedding the bride wore an aquamarine knit dress with black patent acces sories. Her bridal corsage was a white orchid. Mrs. Davis wore a white afternoon frock and a white carnation corsage. Mrs. Matney is employed at Gail's Gold Hill Market and Mr. Matney is employed by Medco corporation in Med ford as a blacksmith. Sprigs of holly and red ber ries in white baskets and Christmas wreaths decorated the room for the bridal show er, which was held following a meeting of the lodge. Secretarial and Accounting Courses Medford Christmas Ball Follows National Pattern Part of a nation-wide trend is the annual Christmas Char ity Ball given each year in Medford by Medford Junior Service league. Throughout the country, lavish balls, usually given in large hotels or clubs, are one of the most popular ways of combining social life with raising of money for worthy projects. The Service lec'gue's an nual event will be held Fri day, December 12, at Rogue alley Country club and will benefit the league's kinder garten for h a r d-of-hearing Chapter to Hold Christmas Party; Pledges Named Final plans for a Christmas party will be made at a meet ing of Alpha Beta chapter, Beta Sigma Phi, to be held tonight at 8 o'clock at the home of Mrs. Floyd Robert son, 932 Winchester avenue. The holiday event will be held at the home of Miss Jean Cardona, Tuesday, December 16, at 8 p.m. Miss Cardona will be assisted by Mrs. Rob ert Vincent. Highlight of the Christmas party each year is revealing of the names of se cret sisters. Last meeting of the chapter was held at the home of Mrs. Clinton Neeley, 1708 Strat ford way. Members made plans to hold a work meeting for rolling bandages for can cer patients. Like the bigger events in San Francisco, New York and Washington, D.C., the Med ford ball will be a festive and gay party with women in beautiful gowns, bright holi day decorations and good food. The gay scene for the past few years has been brightened by the Christmas headdresses which league members and their faminine guests wear. Some are works oi art others are imaginative and unique and all are con versation pieces for the eve ning. The league's Christmas ball is the largest and most important event of the holi days here. Invitation holders who have not yet made their reserva tions are asked to call Mrs. Kmt Blackhurst, ticket chair man. Cocktails will be served from 8 to 9 o'clock and danc ing will begin at 9 o'clock in both the main dining room and the Crest room. A buf fet dinner will be served. - Upper Rogue Club Announces Meeting Upper Rogue Grange Home Economics club will meet De cember 11 at the Eastin home. 'Home Auxiliary Schedules Activities , A schedule of holiday sea son activities nas been an nounced by the auxiliary to Crater Lake chapter, Veterans of Foreign Wars. Mrs. T. R. Pittock, Camp White hospital chairman, an nounces that Wednesday, De cember 10, the gift room at the domiciliary will be open for the selection and wrap ping of gifts for the members. December 12 is the date of the monthly visit to wards by the auxiliary and December 16-17 the auxiliary members will wrap gifts for the veterans at the camp. The tree trimming has been set for December 18, and De cember 22 the work of filling fruit baskets will begin at 9:30 a.m., with distribution of the baskets and the gifts to follow in the afternoon. The day's activities will con clude with a formal dance at Camp White in the evening. The auxiliary members will hold, a Christmas party De cember 11 at the home of Mrs. Ben Allisson, 1027 West Tenth street. A potluck lunch eon will be served at 12:30 pjn. and gifts, costing no more than 50 cents each, will be exchanged. Members of the post and auxiliary will hold a Christ mas party December 21 at 2:30 p.m. in VFW hall. Enter tainment is planned and re freshments will be served.
