Receives Good Will Messages from Many Notables Ashland The Oregon Shakespearean Festival build ing fund campaign is now un der way to obtain $275,000 for construction of a new the ater to replace one condemned as hazardous. Thus far, $48,606.50 has been contributed to the build ing fund, building chairmen have reported. Solicitations for funds were launched last week, when the local campaign started with a "kick off dinner. , Messages of good will have been received at campaign headquarters. From Dora Schary Dore Schary, former pro duction head at M-G-M and author of the current New York hit "Sunrise at Campo bello," wired: "Here in New York those who love the the atre applaud your efforts to rebuild the old Shakespearean theater in Ashland. I happily join in wishing for your suc cess." Frank Hemingway, popular radio newscaster, wired: "I know your efforts will be crowned with success and Shakespeare will reign bigger and better than ever in Ash land." From Terrence O'Flaherty, San Francisco Chronicle col umnist, came this message: "I wish San Francisco had thought of a Shakespearean festival first and could have done it as well as the citizens of Oregon. Good luck. Per haps for the first time in his tory fund raisers have a gilt edge product to sell." Flaherty is a widely read critic and commentator. Prior to the campaign, the Festival received the best wishes of Maurice Evans, in ternationally acclaimed Shakespearean actor. Encouragement "from be yond" gave ethereal comfort to the volunteer fund raisers.
