I was quite worried, not only for myself, but because my infant was only one month old. in tne operating room, they tied a rubber tube on my arm and inserted a needle into the vein. When we moved recently, I was faced with the problem of disposing of some items that would not fit in with our new home. One of them was an old writing desk which had accumulated all our old letters, snapshots, receipts, etc. I called in a second-hand furniture dealer and, after much hemming and hawing, he offered me $6 for the desk. It was worth more but, being desperate, I agreed and began unloading its drawers and pigeonholes. When I was through, there was quite a pile of stuff on the floor. The dealer gave the pile a worried look, then carted the desk out to his truck. Moments later he was back, still worried, and I prepared myself for what might be an act of charity. "Lady," he said hesitantly, "you're going to need something to put that stuff in. Tell you what: I'll take a beating on it, but I'll sell the desk back for $10." Mrs. R. 0.
