I'm grateful to Victor, but . . . a Victor R. I am a bachelor of 34 involved in an affair with a married woman nearly ten years younger. When I met Ada, she was already separated from her husband, and she seemed bent on ruining herself by getting involved with one of the most no - account guys I've ever seen. I rescued her from him and I have treated her with the utmost consideration. I am ready and willing to marry her as soon as she is free. In spite of the fact that I have turned my life upside down in order to help Ada out of her difficulties, she keeps running back to her husband. I know he can nev er make her happy. He treats her miserably. I tell her she must cut it off clean. That's the only way. Ada S. I was verv des perate when I met Victor. I had been married less than a year and our marriage hadn't worked out well. It is true that I was ready to throw my self at a good-for-nothing. Vic tor saved me from that and I am. grateful for it. However, I think Victor and I plunged into physical relations too soon. I like him very much, yet I find we have little in common. We just don't find anything to talk about when we are together. My husband and I were good friends for three years before our marriage. We really have a lot in common and he is willing to start again in spite of the fact that he knows about Victor. I am con fused because I enjoyed re lations with Victor. Tho Council: It will take all the intelligence and effort Victor, Ada and her husband can muster to clarify the muddied waters of their in dividual lives. Ada appears to be able only to act, or react, out of desperation. Instead of at tempting to struggle with whatever difficulties she had found in her marriage, she was ready to throw herself at the good-for-nothing. Out of desperation at what she was about to do, she threw herself at Victor instead. When she saw that was a mistake, she decided to throw herself back at her husband. We do not see that any one of these "throws" is much better than th other. Essen tially, they are the gestures of a child asking someone to save her, care for her, make her happy. Ada will have to recognize she is an adult woman who must make a rational decision for herself and put forward her best efforts to build some thing on the basis of that de cision. We believe she is bad ly in need of couseling from a clergyman and a psychia trist or trained social worker. Possibly we'll surprise Vic tor when we tell him we think he is equally in need of this help. Victor's impulse to "rescue" Ada from various situations rings of another type of de spair. Victor appears to us to want power over a lost, help less, dependent creature. He does not speak of his love or desire for Ada - only of all he can do to help her. We are somewhat mistrust ful of his pure altruism - par ticularly since it has been ex pressed in rather unfortunate form up to this point. Victor is at least as lost and childish as Ada and he should not marry until he is ready to form a relationship which stands on firmer ground, both morally and emotionally. Two Radiation Bells Revealed Iowa City, Iowa -(DTD- A physicist has revealed that data obtained from the Pioneer moon rocket indicates there are two high intensity radiation belts around the earth, the second ending at about 20,000 miles. Carl Mcllwain, a psysicist at the University of Iowa who designed the radiation detec tor used in the Pioneer on its Oct. 11 flight said that new knowledge was gained about radiation between 11,000 and 19.000 miles in space. Preliminary analysis ofj moon rocket data, he said, shows that radiation intensi ties of this area in space seem to correspond to those dis covered by Explorer IV at 1,000 miles from earth. This new information, Mc llwain said, suggests the like lihood of two radiation belts, one from 2,000 to 3,000 miles and the other between 10,000 and 20,000 miles from the earth.
