N. Custer, a Portland insurance agent, today announced with a proud grin the birth of his 11th daughter and expressed no re grets that he is the only male in a household of 12. With the birth of Margaret Eileen Wednesday night, the Custer girls now range in age from one day to 16 years. Custer observed that "the boys at the office say I'm doing a swell job of what I'm doing and that there is no rea son to change." He also had words of praise for the way his 10 daughters at home have taken over household chores while Mrs. Custer is in the hospital with No. 11. The Rev. Elvin S. Tollefsen of the Ascension Lutheran church will officiate. Interment will be in Siskiyou Memorial park. Mr. Phillips was born Feb. 24, 1925, in Yanktown, S. D. He was married to Ina Pearl Lucas in Reno, Nev., Dec. 3, 1952, who survives. He was a member of the Lutheran church in Yankton, S. D., and was a member, of St. Peters church of Medford. He owned and Operated the Phillips Poultry, here in Medford. Mr. Phillips was in the Navy during World War II, having served from Feb. 6, 1943, until March 23, 1946, and was aboard the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise, most of his service career. Survivors, besides his wife, include one son, Larry; 'Jwo daughters, Katherine Jean, and Elsie Susan: his mother, Mrs. Jennie H. Phillips, Ash land; three brothers, Arthur of Ashland, Robert of Med ford, and Donald of Ashland: and one sister, Carol Jean of Ashland. It is a request of the fam ily that in lieu of flowers a donation be mode to the As cension Lutheran church of Medford . or the Grace Luth eran church of Ashland. GRANT FRANKLIN WERTZ Funeral services for Grant F. Wertz, 87, who died Mon day at his home, 1084 Oak Grove rd., will be held in Conger-Morris Funeral home Friday at 1:30 pjn. The Rev. James Neely of the First Bap tist church, will . officiate. Committal will be in IOOF cemetery. . Mr'. Wertz was born in Cen tral Point on May 17, 1871, a son of the late Franklin Wertz who operated the Overnight Posthouse 70 years ago on the Agate desert. He served for a time as mayor and justice of the peace of Gold Hill. Survivors include his wife, Florence, one brother, Joseph Wertz, Ocean Lake; two nieces, Mrs. . Etta Cranford, Portland; Mrs.. Ethel Wood cock, Medford; and one neph ew, Lester Wertz, Eagle Point. She was injured in an accident about 3 o'clock this morning on Highway 99 at Blackwell hill. State police said Mrs. White was operator of a car which struck a lumber truck operat ed by Gordon Lowell Fikes, 1,710 New Voters Register in County Jackson county had an in crease of 1,710 new voters registered in the last 45 days to place it fifth in voter reg istration increase for this period with other counties in the, state. " . James Redden, Jackson county Democratic centra! committee chairman, reached this conclusion based on fig ures released by the secre tary -of state's office. Jackson county's voter reg' istration increase for that per iod was even greater than that of Marion county which had a 1,552 voter increase. Top county in registration increase was Multnomah county with 7,500.
