Medford, Ashland Drill
For Friday Night Hassle
No contact scrimmage was
scheduled for the Medford
high Black Tornado this week
as it tuned for Friday evening
Southern Oregon conference
' competition.
The Tornado goes to Ash
; land for an 8 p.m. encounter.
On the basis of its record and
greater depth, Medford will
be a heavy favorite in the
hassle. Medford's crew will
be after its seventh straight
triumph of the season while
Ashland enters the fracas
with a two-win, four loss
record.
Ashland and Medford have
met only one common rival.
The Tornado won 26 to 0 over
Crater which whipped the
Grizzlies last week 40 to 13.
Both Medford and Ashland
this week have their hobbled
players. Situation was tough
er for short-handed Ashland.
Coach Varney Corey of the
Grizzlies said that George
Moses, 145-pound junior re
serve guard, has been con
verted to center to fill a gap
hit by injury. Corey Indicat
ed to center to fill a gap hit
by injury. Corey indicated
that big Art Klser is through
for the season because of a

Crater High
Scraps Pels
On Friday
Central Point - Defense ap
pears the main problem for
Crater high gridders as they
prep this week for Southern
Oregon conference rivalry on
Friday night.
The teams play at Klamath
Falls.
Coach Leonard Warren re
ported that the morale of his
clrfo" seemed good arid that
Monday drill, which concen
trated on offense, went well.
However, he felt that much
was left to be desired after
work yesterday on defense.
Plays run against the first
line defensive crew gained on
both the ground and in the
air.
Tougher Foe
Crater anticipates tougher
competition this week than it
met against Ashland last Fri
day and Warren is holding
out hope that Comet defense
will be at least as tough
against Klamath as it was
against the Grizzlies.
Fullback Kerman Bennett,
who ran well against Ashland
despite a sciatic . ailment, is
still pestered by his hip and
back trouble. Defensive end
Derell Williamson is hobbled
by a knee injury suffered in
the Ashland game.
The football ruckus will be
the third between the two
schools. Crater won both in
1956 and 1957 and Klamath
will aim to regain its prestige
as a larger school. The Peli
cans will attempt to gain
some consolation in a dismal
season. Klamath has won only
one of its seven games this
fall. Crater will aim to end
its season on a winning note.
It has four victories against
three losses.
