1 Monday, Octet 20, 19SI MAIL TRIBUNE, MEDFORD, ORE. Family Council ITora G I wonder whether things will be different. Dan F.-I am ready to buckle down. ' Nora G.-I was married much too young-at 17. My husband and I had constant and terrible fights. But we stayed together for three years and had two children a boy and a girl. When another man-a much older one-stepped into the picture, Dan and I got a di vorce and I married Harold. This second marriage turned out much worse than the first. Harold mistreated the children and me and I felt I couldn't stand it any more. Harold and I have been separated for several months now, and Dan has been com ing around to see me and the children. He thinks I should get a divorce and remarry him. At least he has always been good to the children. But I don't know what to do. I can't help remembering some of our fights and I won der whether things will ever be different between us. Dan F.-I feel Nora and I have really learned our les son. We did marry much too young and found it rough going, especially when the kids were born so soon and I didn't have a very good job. We were never able to get out for any fun and I think that was what got on both our nerves. , I have been very depressed ever since our marriage broke up and everyone tells me I would be best off mar ried to Nora again. If I mar ried somebody else I would only have to support two households and that would be a pretty rotten deal: I have a much better job now, than I used to have and I feel I am really ready to buckle down and do my best to make a go of things. Nora ought to realize she can't just go on marrying and divorcing the way she has. Tm Council: Dan appears to have confronted some of the practical problems of his present and his future, but he has quite a way to go before he is ready to make a success of a new marriage to Nora. His talk of "buckling down" needs to be put to a few tests. Both Dan and Nora seem to be considering remarriage because they do not know which way to turn ,at this point in their lives. Nora is right to "wonder" whether things will be different this time. Neither Dan nor Nora real izes that things don't change simply because time and harsh experiences have gone by. It takes active effort to make changes. Dan has tried to pinpoint cm of the marital problems the couple had in the past We have an idea there were probably a great many more. It wouldn't hurt to go over some of those old points of discord to find out just what went wrong and what could have been done to improve things. remarriage in this case might be an excellent idea- if Dan and Nora are ready to work on a mature level to achieve success. Instead of remarrying impulsively, they would do well to give them selves a new period of courtship. It is probable that even after so many years of inti macy they do not know one another really well. Howard E. Hilbun of the Seattle NLRB office, who di rected the secret ballot here, said the workers voted 369 to 252 against unionizing. It was the second time this year the union .attempted to sign up the workers to allow the union to act as their bar gaining agent. Last January, the workers voted against unionization by 51 votes. The NLRB charged, how ever, that the company used a form of "coercion" to preju dice the workers against the union in the earlier voting and ordered the second vote.
