Body of Woman Found in Trunk Denver (LTD A woman whose body was found stuffed in a steamer trunk may have been the victim of a strangula tion killer Coroner C. Doug las Andrews said today. An autopsy by the country coroner's office indicated the unidentified woman may have died by strangulation. An drews said further tests were necessary before this could be established definitely, how ever. The woman had been dead three or four days when her body was found Saturday. Robert Helfrick, Littleton, Colo., said he was out rabbit hunting near Castle Rock, us ing two beagle hounds. He said as soon as he let the dogs out ol -his car they dashed straight to an old uprooted tree trunk. Behind the tree trunk was the steamer trunk. Helfrick got in touch with police, who had to pry the trunk open. Jack Benny io Head Heart Sunday Los Angeles -ttiPD- Veteran comedian Jack Benny has been named national chair man of the American Heart Association's "Heart Sunday" drive to collect funds for med ical research, it was announc ed today. " Benny, who has worked with the ' association since 1949, will direct some 1,500, 000 volunteer workers who will solicit contributions in their communities throughout the nation during February, 1959. Heart Sunday has been set for Feb. 22. On Oct. 26 the comedian will be presented with the "Heart and Torch" award in San Francisco for his efforts in previous fund drives., Auto Dealers Seek Removal of Tax Washington (LTD Dean Chaffin, president of the Na tional Automobile Dealers association, described the fed eral excise tax on new auto mobiles as 10 per cent lux ury tax "for a human neces sity preceded only by food, clothing andv shelter." Chaffin urged auto dealers and motorists to campaign for removal of the tax as the "quickest and most direct method of reducing the cost of a new car." He said the tax was imposed to discour age auto buying during war time and "these conditions do not apply now." Dearborn Retiring From Safety Council Chicago - IUPD - Ned H. Dearborn, president of the Na tional Safety Council, bid farewell. to delegates attend ing the 46th National Safety Congress today by warning that the safety movement still has a long way to go. Dearborn, who is retiring, spoke at the opening session of the week-long congress which is being attended by about 12,500 persons. "This talk is given with the conviction that the serious ness of accident prevent de serves the most vigorous em phasis and reemphasis of which we are capable. He said the "most effective instrument in the prevention of accidents" is the doctrine of moral responsibility, and he urged delegates to preach and practice the doctrine.
