    EAGLE POINT
Safety Record Lauded
MAIL TRIBUNE, Medford, Oregon, Monday, October 13, 1958
By LAURA A. McFALL
Eagle Point-A safety meet
ing and steak dinner was held
at the Medford hotel recently
for the truck drivers and
maintenance men of the Steve
O. Wilson Logging company.
The dinner was given by
Insurance agent Don Stathos.
The teams won a steak din
ner for driving for a period of
several months without any
chargeable accidents.
, The accident rate per 100,
000 miles is much lower than
the national average, accord
ing to the National Safety
council, of which Steve Wil
son is a member. The drivers
work for the safety awards
that are given by the safety
council. t
The drivers are divided into
two teams and the ones with
less accidents are given a
steak dinner while the loos
ing team has a hamburger
dinner. At this meeting two
films were shown on safe
truck driving supplied by the
state highway department.
In the state of Oregon,
Steve- Wilson logging and
lumber truck drivers are re
ported to have one of the low
est accident rates in the in
dustry. . - .
