Wandering Inventor Engages Attorney To Study Contract Los Angeles - (UPD - Inventor Elmer Meukel, debt-ridden "dreamer," whose idea for a device to prevent aircraft col lisions aroused wide interest, was a key figure today in a race to develop his device. Where before, the lanky, self - educated Meukel had trouble interesting anyone in his electronic motion detector, his main problem now was considering offers and pro tecting his interests. Contacts Attorney Shortly after returning over the week end from three months wandering that took Two Injured in Auto Accident Carl Andrew Ralmquist, 41 of section 1, Camp White, was reported in serious condition today at the Camp White in firmary after being injured in an auto collision yesterday. DOG CANCER PATIENTS East Lansing, Mich. -BPD- More than 100 dogs are treat ed for cancer every year at the Michigan State Univer sity animal clinic. University veterinarians say the cat is about the only tame animal in which cancer is relatively rare. him to a Reno, Nev., hobo jungle, the inventor today contacted attorney Leonard Weinberg. Weinberg planned to go over the contract Meufcel signed with the Polaris Engi neering company before leav ing home in a "mental funk" last June to escape creditors. The pact calls for Meukel to receive 3V4 .per cent in royalties if his device works. The total could amount to $35,000 a year. Polaris officials were anxi ous to reach an agreement with the inventor so company engineers could start work on development of the invention. Scoffs at Suit Meukel scoffed at a mil lion dollar damage suit filed against him by Comapco Inc. The firm claimed his inven tion might have infringed on the company's patent rights of its motion detector. The 41-year-old inventor wanted to know how his de vice could have infringed on another when no one but he knows the details of it. Weinberg said Meukel had received one offer for his in vention from U.S. Dynapower Electronic Corp., Franklin Park, 111. The company was reported to have offered 25 per cent of the gross profits on the invention providing it works.
