September 28. 1938 Drummond - zwi Berkhout JV adding Held in Gresham News of the weddine of Miss Margaret Teding van Berkhout to David Malcolm Drummond is of interest here. The wedding took place Sat urday, September 13, in St. Luke's Episcopal church, Gresham, Ore., with about 150 guests attending. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Teding van Berkhout, Corbett, Ore., and the bridegroom is the son Church Ceremony Weds Pair Eagle Point The New Age church, Eagle Point, was the setting September 21 for the two o'clock afternoon wedding of Mrs. Nellie Al dine Culp, Fairfax, Calif., and Claus Clay Charley, Little Butte Star route, box 160, Eagle Point. The Rev. D. E. Millard of ficiated at the double ring ceremony attended by 45 rela tives and friends. The bride wore a Chantilly lace frock of cream and brown shades over satin with beige accessories and a corsage of baby talisman rcses. She was given in marriage by Leland Charley, brother of the bride groom. Mrs. William Jennings, niece of the bridegroom, serv ed as matron of honor, and Hurst Charley, cousin of the bridegroom, served as best man. Mrs. Jennings wore a forest green dress with black accessories with a corsage of baby talisman roses. Mr. and Mrs. Millard sang. The couple traveled along the Oregon coast and to points in Washington state on their wedding trip. They will re side on the bridegroom's ranch near Eagle Point on their return. The bride lived in Oregon prior to moving to the Bay area where she was an artist and held several clerical po sitions. Mr. Charley has lived his entire life in Jackson county near Eagle Point. Noted Collector Is Visitor Here Mr. and Mrs. Richard Bry ant Hobart, Cambridge, Mass., have been visiting this past fortnight in Medford with their son-in-law and daugh ter, Mr. and Mrs. Eric Went worth, 217 Windsor ave. Mr. Hobart, a noted collec tor of Chinese paintings and porcelains, flew with his wife and daughter to San Fran cisco Wednesday to visit shops and museums there. The Ho barts plan stops at Kansas City, Chicago and Cleveland on their way home to see col lections in those cities. TV?:. 1 Parker WWS of Dr. and Mrs. C I. Drum mond, 2909 East ' Fairview place, this city. The Rev. Rene Bozarth read the wedding ceremony at sev en o'clock in the evening, and Mr. van Berkhout gave his daughter in marriage. The bride wore a gown of white satin with long sleeves and close-fitting bodice and skirt. Her veil was of hand made Venetian lace and she carried white roses. Miss Linda Lee Hall, Port land, and Miss Francis For ney, Eugene, attended the bride. They wore frocks of champagne colored linen and carried orange and yellow gladiolus. Albert Boardman, TIedford, was best man for Mr. Drum mond and ushers were Leroy Walland and David Bosworth, Medford. Robert McDonald was solo ist! The reception which follow ed was in the church and Mrs. George Grgich, Santa Barba ra, Calif., sister of the bride groom, cut the wedding cake. For the wedding and recep tion the bride's mother wore a blue lace gown with corsage of talisman rosebuds and Mrs. Drummond wore a navy blue crepe dress with talisman rosebud corsage. For traveling the bride wore a brown sheath frock and yellow rosebud cor sage. Mr. Drummond and his bride are making their home in Eugene where both are stu dents at the University of Oregon. The bridegroom is a graduate of Medford High school and was a member of the football team. Among the wedding guests were Mr. and Mrs. Ted Wal land, Medford. Student Returns To OSC Campus Dennis King, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. C. King, 2119 Capital avenue, returned to Corvallis recently where he resumed his studies in chemi cal engineering at Oregon State college. The student, who is a soph omore at the college this fall, is a member of Sigma Nu fra ternity, Delta Tau chapter. During the past year he play ed on the college Rook base ball team. Student Pledged By Fraternity Pullman Robert Jon Gee, Medford, has been pledg ed to Phi Delta Theta social fraternity at Washington State college. The student, a freshman, is attending college on a scholarship and while at Medford High school was an honor student. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Gee, 2757 Syringa drive. (Bruno photos) Family Returns From Arkansas Mr. and Mrs. Al Bradford, 1023 Mt. Pitt avenue, return ed last week from a three week trip to Arkansas. The couple, accompanied by their daughters, Cathy, Cindy, and Carol, drove to Dunsmuri, Calif., where they left their and traveled on by train. in Arkansas they visited in Shirley at the home of Mr. Bradford's parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. D. Bradford. While the girls remained there Mr. and Mrs. Bradford traveled to Indianapolis, Ind., where Mr. Bradford attended the International y Barber's convention for a week. Prior to leaving Arkansas they visited Mrs. Bradford's twin brother, James Fraley, in Little Rock Following a sight-seeing trip in Kansas City, Mo. the family traveled to Tulsa, Okla. where they visited Mr. Bradford's sister, Mrs. Charles Gage, and a Newlyweds Live In Idaho Falls Mr. and Mrs. Brian Paul, married in Elko, Nev., July 19, are making their home in Idaho Falls, Ida. Mr. Paul is employed by Westinghouse there. The bride is the former Carolyn Cummins, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Cum mins, Arco, Ida. The bride groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. O. L. Price, formerly of Medford and now of Mackay, Ida. The bride is a graduate of Butte High school in Arco and Mr. Paul is a graduate of Medford High school. Relling Jr. are making their home at 822 South Oakdale avenue, following their wed ding September 5 at Sacred Heart Catholic church. The Rev. William McLeod offici ated at the 4:30 o'clock after noon ceremony attended by 100 relatives and friends. The bride is a daughter of Mrs. J. U. Bianconi, 145 North Third street. Central Point. Mr. Relling is a son of Mr. and Mrs. D. T. Relling, 1922 North Riverside drive. Pink, yellow, and white gladiolus decorated the church for the event. The bride wore a white lace over satin gown and carried a bouquet of white and blue carnations. Miss Katherine Relling, sister of the bridegroom, was maid of honor. She wore a flowered cotton frock with pink gladio lus bouquet. Jack Relling served as best man for his brother. Following the ceremony a reception was held at the Cen tral Point American Legion hall. The couple traveled to Cali fornia on their wedding trip the bride wearing for her traveling attire a pink sheath with white accessories. The bride attended Crater High school. Mr. Relilng attended St. Mary's High school and is employed by the Big Y Super market. 4 Guest Night Set By Ashland Club Ashland Guest night will be held the first fall meeting of the Siskiyou Knife and Fork club, Ashland, on Mon day, October 13, according to the secretary, Mrs. R. A Herndobler. She stated that memberships are open for either single persons or couples. The first dinner will be held at the Plaza Cafe at 7:30 p.m. when George Rony, re search-historian and author of "This Too Shall Pass Away," will speak. Students Pledged By Greek Groups Salem - Three Willamette university students from Med ford were pledged to fraternal organizations last week end at the end of a week of rush ing activities. They were Miss Joan Laur illa, Alpha Phi; Miss Nancy Adams, Pi Beta Phi, and Tom Morris, Phi Delta Theta. The students were among the 194 who joined fratern ities and sororities af Willam ette. Rush week was conduct ed simultaneously with Orien tation week, an introductory period for new students. Ward-Mongold Ceremony Held In Texas Church Eagle Point Miss Sally Rae Mongold, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Mongold, Eagle Point, became the bride of Lt. Eugene Franklin Ward, son of Mrs. Emma Ward of Crater Lake Highway, Med ford, in a ceremony held Sep tember 18 at First Methodist church, Marshall, Texas. The Rev. John Wesley Hardt officiated at the double ring ceremony held in the sanctuary at 3:30 o'clock in the afternoon. The bride wore a white faille afternoon dress with matching jacket and a corsage of camellias. The bride attended Eagle Point schools and graduated from there in 1957. She at tended Lewis and Clark col lege last year as a freshman majoring in medical tech nology. She has transfered to Centenary college, Shreve port, La., where she will con tinue her studies. Mr. Ward also graduated from Eagle Point High school in 1954 and is now a lieutenant in the Strategic Air command sta tioned at Barksdale Air Force Base at Shreveport. Lee, Cargill court, president of the new Travel Study club here, and Mrs. John L. Holmes, 303 Wilamette ave nue, president of the Junior Women's club, also a new group in the city. Mrs. Lee has beeii asked to be chairman of the federa tion's committee to study in ternational trade aid, and Mrs. Holmes has been named to the-community affairs com mittee of the crime preven tion division. The appointments were an nounced at the fall board meeting of the federation held last week in Portland and conducted by Mrs. Walter Brown, Klamath Falls, fed eration president. Mrs. Lee attended the sessions, held at the Mallory hotel. Fifty worn en make up the board, rep resenting the more than 100 federated clubs in Oregon. At the board session, which opened Mrs. Brown's term, she announced that her theme for the year will me "New Ap proaches to Peace." Mrs. Carl Peterson, Ash land, president of the feder ation's first district, also at tended the board sessions. HOLLYfWOOD FASHION Two at Session For Mrs. Frances Flinn, Plaza apartments, returned home last week after attending a meeting of Red Cross work ers at Asilomar, Calif. Mrs. Flinn, chairman of the Jack son county chapter's Camp White hospital service, report ed that workers from eight western states attended the meeting. Following the meeting at Asilomar, Mrs. Flinn spent a week in San Francisco and saw a number of shows, in cluding "South Pacific" and "Gigi." Also attending the sessions at Asilomar was Mrs. Frank Fairweather, volunteer field consultant In this area.
