California Couple Wed
In Methodist Ceremony

Gay Smith became the
bride of James Albert Young
in a ceremony held Sunday,
August 31, at 3 o'clock at
First Methodist church in
Yreka, Calif. The Rev. Har
old Coleman officiated for
the double-ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. John Robert
Smith, Hilts, and the bride
groom is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Albert F. Young, Etna,
Calif. .
Baskets of white gladiolus
and stock decorated the
church. Miss Judy Moore of
Yrtka played the traditional
organ music and accompan
ied Miss Ann Wright, solo
ist. The bride, given in mar
riage by her father, wore a
floor length gown of candle
light imported chantilly lace
and tulle over taffeta fash
ioned' with a fitted bodice
and full skirt with a pleated
tulle flounce at the .hem. Her
fingter tip length illusion net
veil fell from a crown of sat
in and pearls. She carried a
cascade bouquet of stephan
otis centered with a white or

hand crocheted lace cloth,
Miss Dorice Young,, aunt of
the bridegroom, cut the cake,
made and decorated by Mrs.
Edward Carrigan, Etna. Mrs.
Roy E. Mason, sister of the
bridegroom, served the cake.
Mrs. Robert Jorgenson,
Willows, presided at the
punch bowl, assisted by Mrs.
R. E. Richman, aunt of the
bride.
For her going away cos
tume, the new Mrs. Young
wore a two piece blue suit
with white accessories and
the orchid from her wedding
bouquet. The young couple
traveled to the coast for their
wedding trip and will make
their home in Chico.
The bride is a graduate of
Yreka high school and attend
ed Chico State college for two
years. She has been employed
at the Bank of America in
Yreka. ' '

has attended the University
of California at Davis and
will continue his education
at Chico State college.
