A, i 2 MAIL TRIBUNE, Medford, Ore., Medford School District Bus Service Planned in All Areas During New Year Bus service for Medford school district 549C will be expsnded thi year to include service for students living on the far cast side who attend Medford High school and for students in the Kings highway area who attend McLoughlin Junior High school. When school opens Sept. 15 transportation also will be provided for grade school students living south of Stew art ave. between Peach st. and Orchard Home dr. who are assigned to Jefferson school, and for students on Ross lan north of McAn drews rd. who attend Jack son schcoL Oak Grov School Area: Morning service in the Oak Grove school area will be the same as last spring. The early run for bus number 2 wiil leave Orchard Home dr. and Stewart ave. at 7:25 a,m. heading west on Stewart ave., Hull rd. and Bellinger rd. to Casino where it will turn around at 7:30 a.m. and re turn to Oak Grove rd. The bus will then go ndrth on Oak Grove rd. to Jack sonville highway and turn east on the highway at 7:37 a.m., going by Ross lane, Mc Andrews rd. and Jackson st. to Mclaughlin Junior High school and then continuing south to the high school. On the second trip bus number 2 will go out Stewart ave. to Lozier lane, arriving there at 7:50 a.m. and then going north on Lozier lane and west on Jacksonville highway to Oak Grove school at 7:57 a.m. Grade school stu dents living on and near Lozier lane may ride this bus to Oak Grove school. To Continue West From Oak Grove school the bus will continue west to Wellin dr., Hollywood and von der Hellen ranch rd., ar riving at 8:0? a.m. The bus will then go directly to the high school, arriving at 8:15 a m., and then to McLoughlm Junior High school at 8:20 a.m. In the afternoon two buses will be used, number 3 leav ing the high school at 3:20 o'clock and number 2 leaving McLoughlin Junior High school at 3:25 o'clock. Both buses will go to von der Hel len Ranch rd. near the Jack sonville highway where stu dents from both schools will be placed on one bus for trans portation to their homes. West Side School Area: Service in the West Side school area will be the same as at the close of school last year. Bus number 1 will leave West Side school at 7:30 a.m., going north on Old Stage rd. and arriving at Military rd at 7:35 a.m. From there it will go south on Military rd., reaching Old Stage rd. at 7:44 a.m. and West Side school at 7-50 a.m. The bus will go to the high school and McLough lin Junior High school on Ross lane and Maple Park dr., picking up students until it reaches the corner of Jackson st. and McAndrews rd. . .- Tn the afternoon, students will be picked up by bus num ber 1 at the high school at 3.23 o'clock and at Mclaughlin T.,ii. During the period that Wil son school students are as signed to afternoon sessions at Roosevelt school, four bus es will be assigned to this area, picking up students be tween 11:35 and 12:15 p.m. . Bus number 5 will pick up students between Vilas rd. and Gregory rd. On Crater Lake highway beginning at 11:35 a.m. and will then re turn to Vilas rd. where it will head east and north on Vilas rd., McLoughlin dr. and Corey rd., leaving Foothill and Corey rds. at 11:55 a.m. The bus will then go south and west on iootnin ana Coker Butte rds. to Crater Lake highway and follow Crater Lake ave. and Jack son st. to Roosevelt school. Starring Point Bus number 4 will start at Table Rock rd. and Bear creek at 11:45 a.m. and ar rive at Vilas rd. at 11:50 a.m. The bus will then go east on Vilas rd. and south on Crater Lake highway and Crater Lake ave. to Kooseven scnooi. Bus number 1 will start at McAndrews and Biddle rds. at noon heading east on Mc Andrews rd. to Corona ave., picking up 3n Corona and Grand aves. It will then go south on Crater Lake ave. to Spring st., east on Spring st. to Waverly ave., and follow Waverly ave. and Keene way to Roosevelt school. Buses will be at Roosevelt school approximately 4:lu p.m. to return children as signed to Wilson school to their homes. Charlotte Anne Road: Bus number 3 for Hedrick Junior High school and high school students will leave Charlotte Anne rd. at 7:40 a.m. Grade school students for Jefferson school will be picked up at 8:35 a.m. In the afternoon, primary grade students will be picked up at 2:55 o'clock and inter mediate grade - sludents at 4:05 o'clock. Ross Lane: Grade school students living on Ross lane who wish to attend Jackson school will be picked up be ginning at 8:25 a.m. by bus number 2 at the corner of McAndrews rd. and Ross lane, with the bus going north on Ross lane, then east to Sage rd. and south on Sage rd. and Summit ave. to Jack son school. In the afternoon, primary students will be picked up at 3:28 o'clock by the bus run ning to the West Side school area, and intermediate stu dents will be picked up at 3:50 o'clock. King's Highway: To serve McLoughlin Junior High school students . living on Kings highway and in the Jefferson school area, bus number 6 will leave Kings highway and Garfield st. at 8:12 a.m. It will go east on Garfield st. to Jasper St., and then to McLoughlin Junior High school on Jasper st. and Holmes and Oakdale aves. Students at McLoughlin wishing return service in the afternoon will catch the Oak Grove bus. Orchard Home Drive-Stewart Ave.: For those grade school students assigned to Jefferson school and who live south of Stewart ave. between Peach st. and Orchard Home dr., bus number 3 will start at the corner of Columbus ave. and Stewart ave. at 8:15 a.m. It will go south on Col umbus ave. to Cunningham lane, "west on Cunningham lane to Orchard Home dr., and north on Orchard Home dr. to Stewart ave. It will arrive at Jefferson school via Stew art, Oakdale and Holmes aves. Primary students will be returned home beginning at 2:50 p.m. and intermediate grade students will return at 4:05 p.m. Pupils attending Lincoln school who live on North Riv erside ave. near Crater Lake highway will be picked up by bus number 4 at 8:10 a.m. In the afternoon, ' primary ' grade students will be picked up at 3:25 o'clock by bus number 4 and intermediate grade stu dents will be picked up at 4 o'clock by bus number 6. Parochial School Students: Students residing in the dis trict and attending St. Mary's school may ride any of the buses which transport stu dents to Medford High school in the morning.. In the after noon all St. Mary's students who wish to ride school dis trict 549C buses will be pick ed up by bus number 6 on Holly st. near 11th st. at 3:05 o'clock and transported to the high school for transfer to their proper buses for return home. Gold Hill, Sams Valley Schools to Start on Monday . Gold Hill Gold Hill and Sams Valley schools will open Monday, Sept. 15. School will be held all day, and lunches will be served in cafeterias at both schools. Luncheon fee is I 25 cents. Buses will run oni regular schedules. Registration for children entering the first grade at Pat rick school in Gold Hill and the Sams .Valley school regis tered at the schools Thursday and Friday, respectfully. ; School insurance will be available for children for SI. 80. Gilbert Mack, principal of Hanby and Patrick schools, said forms will be sent home to parents concerning insur ance for. children at the schools. Cecil Gabie, who has driven bus for several years, has accepted a custo dian position at Crater High school. Mack said additional locker room improvements are being provided this year. A cage ar rangement is under construc tion around the locker area. A teacher will be in charge of articles checked out this year, he said. Last year several par ents reauested a better locker situation. Seedlings will be planted jn the Medford, Coos Bay, Rose burg, Eugene and Salem dis tricts in units of from 4,000 to 269,280 seedlings, the BLM said. ' A total of 1,379,620 seed lings are to be planted in the Medford district. Other dis tricts are Eugene, 599,200; Salem, 589,000; Coos Bay, 506,100; and Roseburg, 2,084,- 000. The plantings are port of the reforestation program be ing carried ori-by the BLM on O and C forest lands. The program is financed from the counties' 75 per cent share of O and C timber sales in come. . Bids may be submitted on any one or any combination or all the 109 items in the speci fications. Contractors will have between 30 and 120 days to complete planting, depend ing on. the number of plant ings.
