Suspect Quizzed In Kidnaping of Girl in Colorado Fort Collins, Colo.JUPD-TRe Larimer county sheriffs of fice early today apprehended an unidentified man as a sus pect in the kidnaping of Mar jorie Schneider. The man, in his early thirties, was brought in for questioning on a tip from a citizen here. A deputy said the suspect, second to be questioned in connection with the disappearance of the 18-year-old stenographer early Sunday morning, was a resi dent of Fort Collins. Another Released Sunday afternoon, deputies questioned another unidenti fied resident of Fort Collins about the girl's disappearance, but released him less than a half hour later. Nine 4-H'ers And County Man Win At Fair Nine Jackson county - 4-H club members and a Medford . man were winners last week at the Oregon State fair which closed Saturday in Salem. In addition to individual winners, Jackson county re ceived the expert "housekeep ing" blue ribbon for the swine area in the barn at the fair. Herman Kamping, Medford, received the silver trophy for the best potato exhibit. The trophy, donated by the Oregon Potato commission to encour age a greater display of Ore grown potatoes, was eccepted for Kamping by Glenn Klein, Jackson county 4-H agent. Kamping won with Red Pon tiacs. Joan Dobrot, Central Point, won a trip to 4-H summer school for winning the senior dollar dinner contest at the lair. The dinner served in cluded fried chicken for four persons for an average of 60 cents .apiece. Requires Much Time Joan spent four hours pre paring a menu of pineapple grapefruit juice, chicken, par sleyed potatoes, green beans julienne, tomato salad, herb bread and butter, homemade watermelon pickles, pear crunch and coffee. Two Medford girls, Penny Sampert, 15, and Marsha Wat son, 13, with "recipe for horse manship" won the demonstra tion in the livestock division for grooming and saddling of a horse. The girls belong to the West Side Hayburners 4-H Saddle Horse club. Two Jackson county judg ing teams received second place honors in the 4-H dairy and livestock contests. Dairy judging honors went to Steve Carroll and Bill Hubbard, both Eagle Point, and Romelle Fosson, Jacksonville. The live stock judging team included Joyce Kerr, Ashland; Marilyn Watson, Medford, and Carol Von der Hellen, Central Point. Marilyn Watson was the third high individual among the 93 judges from throughout Ore gon in the contest. Aumsville Logger Dies of Injuries Stayton (UPD A 21-year-old Aumsville logger, Ralph Combs, died Saturday of in juries suffered when he was crushed between two logs Wednesday afternoon. Combs was working on a logging operation for the Ercil Wilson Logging Co., when a log slipped, crushing him against another log which was nearby. Use Tribune Want Ads The girl has not been found. Miss Schneider was abducted by a crew-cut man in his early thirties early Sunday morn ing while she was sitting in an automobile in a lovers' lane near here with her escort, Ellsworth Eugene Far nik, 21, Estes Park, Colo., and another couple, James Cole man, 23, and Coleman's wife, Janet, 19. The Colemans and Farnik told Sheerer the man fired eight bullets into the car. They said two bullets crashed through the windshield, two others busted out the front headlights, two pierced the tires, and two other bullets smashed the' radiator. Pockets Emptied Sheriff Sheerer said the trio told him the man lined them up and forced them to empty their pockets. Farnik said the gunman thanked them for their money -less than $2-and apologized for "busting up the car." . "He then told us to start walking, all except Margie," Farnik said. "I want the blonde to come with me," Farnik said the gunman told them. Paperman Paper Probe Scheduled Washington -(UPD- A federal grand jury today explored the mystery of millionaire Bernard Goldfine's stolen "Paperman papers." Mildren Paperman - blonde bookkeeper for the gift-giving friend of Presidential Assist ant Sherman Adams and other political figures was sched uled to be in the witness chair. Miss Paperman previously was a staring member of the Goldfine entourage during the House's recent Adams Goldfine hearings. The grand jury specifically is looking into housebreaking charges against William (Col onel) Walters, a 33-year-old hotel cashier.. Police accused him of lift ing the "Paperman papers" records of Goldfine dealings -from Miss Paperman's hotel room in early July. The House influence - investigating sub committee's inquiry into the alleged , influence - for - favors tieup between Goldfine and Adams was then at its height. Finance Drive Slated by GOP The neighbor to neightbor Republican finance drive will start Sept. 14 in Jackson county and throughout the state, according to Don Stath os, chairman of the Jackson county Republican Central committee. The campaign is a new method of political fund rais ing and is being tried this election years so' each voter may "buy a share in your po litical party." "Local Republican leaders have stated their party has no desire to be supported and controlled by special interest groups," Stathos said. They believe by getting the sup port of many citizens repre senting the general interest the Republican party can best serve the country." "Mrs. Francis Littrell, lo cal chairman of the Neigh bor to Neighbor campaign, asks that everyone be pre pared when his Republican neighbor calls on Sept. 14. Each Republican is urged to "back your ballot with your Buck." Trucker Strike Talks Scheduled San Francisco - (UPD - A new round of negotiations aimed at ending an 11-state Team ster strike-lockout gets under way here Tuesday. Negotiations between top industry and union represen tatives ended Saturday in Washington with no agree ment being reached. However, both sides indicated there was some hope of a solution. "We feel substantial pro gress has been made toward settlement of the strike and lockout," said a joint state ment issued by Robert H. Cutler of El Paso, Tex., rep resenting the employers, and Einar Mohn, president of the Western Conference of Team sters. The statement came after negotiators met for 2Vz hours at the headquarters of Team ster President James R. Hoffa. The strike began four weeks ago today when 2,350 teamsters belonging to Joint Council No. 38 in Central California and Western Ne vada went on strike, demand ing wage parity with San Francisco Bay area drivers. Employers then ordered the lockout in the 11 Western states. They claimed the strikers were bound by an agreement covering the West that was reached on May 27.
