CENTRAL POINT Registration Slated By DORIS HUGHES Central Point Registration for first grade students at Jewett elementary school will be Monday, Sept. 15. George Johns, principal, asked that mothers accompany children to register for the first grade. They should bring her child's birth certificate. First graders will return home with their mothers after registering. First grade students will begin their first full day of school, Tuesday, Sept. 16, Johns stated The second grade students at Jewett elementary school will begin Monday, Sept. 15, and remain at the school all day. The cafeteria will be open Monday. ' church, Central Point, attend ed the McLaughlin camp at the Lake of the Woods. The boys went to the camp on the Sunday school bus. A picnic honoring Mr. and Mrs. Robert Sutherland was given Wednesday at Haw thorne park, Medf ord. Mr. and Mrs. Sutherland and children, Connie, Becky and Danny, are moving to Yangton, S.D. Sutherland, who is on the staff of Crater High school, has a year's leave of absence to attend the University of South Dakoha. Attending the picnic were Mr. and Mrs. Clarence "Miller, Mrs. Francis Willette, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Knapp, Colleen and Patricia, Mr. and Mrs. War ren Holbrook and Ronnie and Nancy, all of Medford; from Central Point were Mr. and Mrs. Don Miller, Cheryl, Mar- cia, Greg, Doug and Jimmy. With the Millers was Miss Jeanie Miller, who was visit ing here from Sweet Home Also from Central Point were Mr. and Mrs. Chuck Moore, Mr. and Mrs. Ron Van Dolah and David, Mr. and Mrs. Arth ur Straus, Katherine, David, Carol and Freddie, Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Obenchain, Mr. and H. P. Jewett, Mrs. Doreen Bradshaw and Mr. and Mrs. James Backen. Lee Anne and Ronnie Roundtree of Rose burg also attended the affair, They are visiting at the home of their uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Backen. - . . ; Mr. and Mrs. Zimmy Zim merman and children and Mrs. Mary Dye of Los Angeles visited Sunday at the home of Mr. atod Mrs. Royal Green- man of) Central Point. The visitors 'and the Greenmans, accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Greenman and children of Ashland, picnicked on Evans creek near Winier. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Griggs returned last week from a vacation at La Grande at the home of Mr. and Mrs. . R. Griggs and at Scrapoose where they visited Mrs. Grigg's parents, Mr. and Mrs. D. .' Richards. Mr. and Mrs. Bill MacFar lane vacationed last week at the Lake of the Woods. Mr. and Mrs. O. T. Wilson reported that their son, Steph en, who was seriously injured three weeks ago in a logging accident, is recovering satis factorily at Sacred Heart hospital. Twenty three Junior Boys from the Community Bible Mr. and Mrs. James Stevens gave a birthday dinner recent ly in honor of their son, Wal lace, who was 14 years old. Guests were Gary Wald, Jim my Stevens, Peter Lynn Stev ens, and Mr. and Mrs. M. A. Graham. The Grahams, who live at Happy Camp, are Wal lace's grandparents. The birth day cake is one for which Mrs. Stevens had won first place on it at the Jackson County fair. Mrs. Lewis Collins arrived in Tokyo, Japan, last week to join her husband, the Rev. Lewis Collins, who is minist ering there to the mission aries. Mr. - Collins' mother, Mrs. F. E. Collins, of Alberta, Canada, is staying with the Collins children, Arthur and Esther, while their parents are in Japan. The Collins' old er daughter, Joyce, will leave here Sept.' 21 to attend her senior year at Canadian Bible college at Regina, Saskatche Mr. and Mrs. Vera Leroy and children, Blair and Mary, returned last week end from a week's vacation. After visit ing Leroy's parents,-Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Leroy of McMinn ville. The Leroys visted other relatives in the Portland area. Thev came back" the coast route visiting at Florence and other points. The family tnen went to Salem and took in the State Fair before returning to southern Oregon. Last Tuesday, Mrs. Jenny Cummins gave a luncheon at her home on Laurel st. Guests were Mrs. Millie Johnhson, Mrs. Royal Greenman- and Mrs. Charles Hughes and sons, Sam and Jimmy. The affair was a "firemans party." Each guest was presented a . toy fire truck and the party began with a trip to the Medford city fire station. Upon returning to Stevie's home the group had to climb a ladder and through the win dow to the dining room where a birthday cake awaited them. Attending were Mike and David Langston, Allan Quail, Davie Cavin, all of Central Point, Robby Johnson and Vickie Snyder of Medford, and Paul and Stevie Wyatt of Central Point. Mr. and Mrs. John Black ford returned recently from a trip to Davis, Calif., where they visited Mrs. Blackford's son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Don Morgan and daughter, Cynthia Anne. Don is a student at the University of California. He plans to be a veterinarian. This was the Blackford's first time to see their new grandaughter. The Blackf ords also visited in Red wood City and San Fsancisco and went to the county fair at Redland. . Guests at the home of Mrs. Arthur Ayres over the week end were Mr. and Mrs. John Tharp and sons, Mike, Topper and Gary, of Eugene. The Royal . Neighbors of America met Sept. 2 at the home of Mrs. George Taeger of Forest Creek rd. The group had a business meeting and a dessert luncheon. Ten wom en attended the meeting.
