Wallace Bride's Father and Uncle Perform Wedding Ceremony JVallace-Anderson Rites Read by Methodist Pastor Shady Cove-Mr. and Mrs. Don Roger Claspill, married earlier this summer, are now making their home at 1094 Hollister street, San Francis co. The bride is the former Lois Elaine Evers, daughter of the Rev. and Mrs. Ernest Evers, and the bridegroom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Claspill, Fresno, Calif. The ceremony was held July 26 at Community Bible church,' Central Point, at eight o'clock in the evening The bride's father escorted her to the altar and gave her in marriage, and then assisted the Rev. Paul Kroon, pastor of the church and uncle of the btide, with the latter part of the service. The bride wore a princess style gown of satin and lace with fitted bodice, wide vee neckline and long lace sleeves. Her veil was finger tip length and she carried white carnations and pink roses set in a pink satin fan. Mrs. Richard Abrams, San Francisco, a cousin, was hon or attendant for the bride and other attendants were Mrs. Earl Evers, Santa Margarita, Calif., and Miss Grace Evers, sister of the bride, junior bridesmaid. Mrs. Abrams and Mrs. Evers wore pink taffeta frocks with scoop necklines trimmed with bows and long ribbons at the back. Their headdresses were of white net and green bows. Miss Evers wore a long pink frock with white flower design. The at tendants flowers were pink roses. Floyd Evers, San Fran cisco, the bride's brother, was best man and seating the guests were Paul Evers, an other brother, and Richard Abrams, San Francisco. Miss .blame Kroon was soloist for the wedding, and Mrs: Paul Kroon played the wedding music Mrs. Erma Cushman Shady Cove, decorated the church with pink and white gladiolus for the ceremony, and also took charge of all the other flowers for the ceremony and reception The reception was held at the church. Mrs. Wayne Ash cut the wedding cake, Mrs Clarence Wagler poured punch and the Misses Claudia Ash and Joyce Collin took charge of the gifts. Miss Carol Scott attended the guest book Mr. Claspill and his bride. both employed In San Fran cisco, made the trip from that citv to Medfard and return by plane, tire trip having been a wedding gift from Mr. Claspill's grandparents The bridegroom's parents, another son, Johnny and daughter Carol were in Shady Cove for the wedding. Announce Meeting Medford chapter of Gold Star Mothers will meet Tues day, September 2 in the court house auditorium. Wal lace, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Wallace, Phoenix, in an evening ceremony August 12 at First Methodist church. Dr. George G. Roseberry, pastor, performed the double ring service, assisted by -the Rev. Charles P. Anderson of New York City, an uncle of the bride. The bride, given In mar riage by her father, wore a floor lengtri gown of Chan tilly lace and tulle over satin with a finger-tip length silk ilusion veil held by a crown of pearls. She carried a bou quet of stephanotis and a white orchid on a white Bible. Mrs. Clifford Smith served as her sister's matron of honor and Miss Linda Wal lace, Miss Helen Mason and Miss Carol Clark were bridesmaids. All four wore ballerina length dreses and carried white gladioli. Mrs. Smith's dress was of blue Chantilly lace and the brides maids' dresses were of blue net. Larry Kusel was the bride groom's best man and Perry Sneed, James Stout and Les ter Sohleigh ushered. Diane Anderson, a cousin of the bride who served as flower girl, wore, a long blue satin dress and a white car nation head piece. Robert Porter was ring bearer. Other attendants included the bridegroom's sister, San dra Wallace, and a niece, Ar- leta Steele, who were candle lighters. They wore identical blue ballerina length dresses of satin and net. An aunt of the bride, Mrs Charles Anderson was soloist, For her daughter's wedding Mrs. Anderson wore a light blue knitted dress with white accessories and a white car nation corsage. , The bride- Seattle Couple Parents of Son Mr. and Mrs. N. B. Bender Jr., of Seattle are the parents of a son born August 27 in that city. Mrs. Bender is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs, Dwight Findley, Old Stage road, and the Findleys have left . for Seattle to visit the couple. Mrs. Findley will re main for several days and Dr. Findley will return home the first of the week. Mr. Bender s parents are Mr. and Mrs. N. B. Bender, 1941 Westerlund drive. Two Betrothals Announced in Cave Junction Cave Junction Two gagements have been nounced here in recent days. Dr. and Mrs. A. N. Collman have announced the engage ment of their daughter, Judy Beth, to Gerald Lee Clayton, son of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Clayton of Sutherlin, Ore. Miss Collman is a graduate of Illinois Valley High school with the class of 1957, and was a" Gladiolus Festival princess last year. She was employed by the Bank of Illi nois Valley prior to entering Southern Oregon college last year, rnis summer, sne nas been an employee of the Rogue Valley State Bank in Medford. Her fiance, Gerald Clayton, Is a student at Southern Ore gon college and will enroll again for the fall term. The wedding is set for late September at Cave Junction. en-an- The engagement of Connie Lee Jones, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Jones, to William McVay, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. McVay, La Fuente, Calif., has been announced. The bride-elect, formerly a student of Illinois Valley High school, moved to La Puente last school term. Her fiance, a graduate of the La Puente High school, is now employed by the Frigid Coil company of that city. The wedding is planned for early next summer. Gardeners Plan Workshop Session Central Point Central Point Garden club will meet at the home of Mrs. Donald E. Faber at 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 3, for a workshop and business session. Mrs. A. C. Lewis, Phoenix, will instruct members in the use of dry materials for mak ing plaques for the home. Per sons attending should take materials to work with if pos sible, a sack lunch, and rooted plants to be potted for the October plant sale, it was re ported. groom's mother wore a navy blue dress with white acces sories and a similar corsage. The chapel was decorated with white chrysanthemums. Following the wedding a reception was given in the church by the bride's parents for about 100 friends and rel atives. Mrs. Robert Porter cut the cake and Mrs. Oliver Yancy, an aunt of the bride served. Mrs. Vester Sim- monds presided at the punch bowl and Mrs. Harvey D Beatty, another aunt of the bride, served coffee. Mrs. James Hanscom was in charge of the guest book and Mrs. Herbert Vessey was at the gift table. - For the wedding trip to the Oregon coast the new Mrs. Wallace wore a pink linen suit with white accessories and a white orchid corsage. The couple is now at home at 961 Lozier lane. The bride was graduated from Phoenix High school and is now employed at Weis fields, and the bridegroom, also a Phoenix High school graduate, is employed by Reter Fruit company. Out of town guests in addi tion to the Andersons were Mr. and Mrs. Eddy Steele and Arleta, and Mr. and Mrs. Oli ver Yancy and Clarence, rela tives of the bride from Klam ath Falls, and Mr. and Mrs. Dale Smith of Gold Hill. Concert By Priest Announced inorau iMorneim, O. F., famous Norwegian concert pianist, will be presented in concert at Hedrick Junior High school, Sunday, Septem ber 7, beginning at 8 o'clock. He will be sponsored by Rogue River council, Knights of Columbus. , Father Norheim Is z. mem ber of the Dominican Order attached to a monastery in Oslo. He will come to Med ford with a large number of public appearances behind him, first as a layman and later as a priest. His concerts took him not only over his own country, but all over the continent of Europe and in the largest cities throughout the Eastern United States. In addition, his playing has been broadcast over Scan dinavian Broadcasting Sys tems, over Radio Paris and the BBC, according to Grand Knight Gordon Boner, Med ford, of the local KC council. Since 1957 the Norwegian pianist has played over 40 concerts in the United States, receiving high praise from such famous music critics as Paul Hume in the Washing ton Post, Maurice Leahy of New York, Raymond Morin of the Worcester, Mass. Sun day Telegram and others. Proceeds from his present series of concerts will be used to build an urgently needed larger and more modern monastery in his native Nor way in order to handle ex panded activities of his order, it is said. A percentage from the Medford concert will be used by the Rogue River Council Knights of Columbus for local charitable projects, Mr. Boner added. Tickets will be placed at Puruckers Piano house and may be obtained also from members of the local KC council. Miss Barbara Edwards (Classic photo) Betrothal Told Of Miss Edwards Robert Bobbin Mr. and Mrs. George M. Edwards, 112 Morrow road, announce the engagement of their daughter, Barbara Ann, to Robert Eugene Bobbitt, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. P. Bobbitt, 1740 North River side avenue. Miss Edwards was grad uated from Medford High school and attended Robert son School of Business. She is now employed at Bate man's cafe. Mr. Bobbitt was graduated from St. Mary's High school and is employed at Steven's Auto sales. He is a member of the active Army reserve. The couple plans a spring wedding. Group Attends , Conference on Family Living , , Several persons have re turned to the valley after at tending a four-day conference at the University of Oregon, Eugene, held by the Council on Family Relations. The divorce rate has been stabilized in the United States but will remain high as long as we have early marriages, the family relations experts told delegates to the meeting. f It was also noted, accord ing to reports, that much more research and study is necessary before adequate evaluation of the problems involved in education at the several levels can be made. These levels include family living, parent education, and religion. This was the 20th national meeting of the council and it drew educators and other per sons interested in family rela tion problems from many parts of the nation. Among those attending the conference, August 20 - 23, from this area were Mrs. Leigh Gustison, Lindsay Vin- sel, Dr. Harry Danielson, Mrs. Herbert Sampert, and Mrs. Henry Padgham, all of Medford; Mrs. Chester Fitch and Mrs. Mabel Winston, Ashland: and .:iMrs. Walter Bish and Rolland Hartley of Talent. Exhibit Changed At Piano House The Maude Walling Wanker water color" exhibit, which has been on display at Pu rucker Music house, will be replaced by the works from the Master Water Color So- city of Oregon. It will be free to the public for viewing through the month of September. Paintings by Daniel Tesch, Grants Pass, will be shown in October. York-Russell Ceremony Held in Catholic Church Central Point Sacred Heart Catholic church was the scene of the wedding of Miss Carol Jean Russell to Thomas J., York on Saturday, August 23. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert F. Russell, 2886 Beall lane, and the bridegroom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. E. H. York, Concord, Calif. The double-ring ceremony and nuptial mass were cele brated by the Rev. John Ilg at 9:30 o'clock in the morn ing. Fred Thompson, cousin of the bridegroom from Tu lare, Calif., and Donald Davy, Medford, were acolytes. Mr. Russell escorted his daughter to the altar. She wore a gown of white im ported Chantilly lace over satin fashioned with vee shaped scalloped neckline, short sleeves and a full skirt with hemline scallops. It was designed and made by" her mother. The bride's finger tip length tulle veil and pearl crown were loaned by Mrs. Richard Garrett, Medford, and she carried an heirloom handkerchief belonging to Mrs. B. L. Hunter, Medford. Her bouquet was white step anotis centered with white carnations. Miss Helen York, Concord, sister of the bridegroom, was honor attendant. She wore a ballerina length white nylon gown flocked with maize col ored flowers over maize taf feta with fitted bodice and vee-neckline in back trimmed with velvet ribbons. She car ried white and maize chrysanthemums. Two Bridesmaids The bridesmaids, Miss Mary Kay Conroy and Miss Linda Lambeth, Vashon, Wash., wore light blue frocks fashioned as that worn by the honor attendant and carried nosegays of white and blue chrysanthemums. Dennis Schmidt, Salem, was best man and Arthur York, brother of the bride groom and James Serventi, a cousin, both Concord, were ushers. Bruno Pellegrini was or ganist and Miss Nancy Con roy was soloist, assisted by Miss Mary Frances Zimmerman. White gladiolus were ar ranged on the altar and tall baskets filled with wood wardia ferns and white glad iolus stood at either, side. Other bouquets were of white gladiolus and blue del phinium. The reception was held at the Rogue room of the Med ford hotel. The wedding cake was cut and served by Mrs. Fred Kuest and Mrs. C. H Ault, with an heirloom knife belonging to Mrs. Clara Agee, Medford. The knife was given to Mrs. Agee's father 75 years ago on his 25th wed ding anniversary and has been used at many weddings since. Sister Her Punch was poured by Mrs. B. J. Tomjack, sister of the bridegroom from Phoenix, Ariz. Miss Virginia Thomp son, Tulare, Calif., cousin of the bride, took charge of the guest book and gift table. The bride's mother was at tired in a cocoa brown lace sheath dress with white ac cessories and white carnation corsage. The bridegroom's mother wore a blue flowered silk suit with yellow hat and gloves and a white carnation corsage.
