Rainy-Day Baseball

Cut out 18 pieces of card
board about the size of domi
noes. With a pen or pencil,
write "Base" on nine, "Run"
on six , and "Out" on three.
On a piece of cardboard or
paper, draw a baseball dia
mond, -marking the bases,
First, Second, Third, and
Home Plate. Use a bottle cap
or other small object for the
runnei" only one is needed
for both teams. Now you are
ready to play. Divide the
players into two groups or
teams. After deciding which
team is to bat first, place the
runner on Home Plate. Place
the cardboard counters face
down on a table, board, or
other flat surface and shuffle
them about. Let each mem
ber of both teams take turns
selecting a counter and turn
ing it face up. If the counter
reads "Out," no matter which
side draws it, the runner on
base is out. If it reads "Run,"
one run is counted for the
team at bat; if it reads
"Base," the runner is moved
to the next base. Any runner
circling the diamond one base
at a time, also counts one run.
After each run, the runner
must be at Home Plate be
fore a counter is drawn.
When three outs are made
by one side, the counters are
shuffled again and the other
team bats.
