Insurance Women Meet Here; Attend Festival Members of Region 8, Na tional Association of Insur ance Women, combined a regional meeting in Medford last week end with attend ance at the 1958 session of the Oregon Shakespearean festival in Ashland. Officers and chairmen pointed out that the unique meeting provides an opportunity for members to meet one another and their new officials for the coming year as well as to attend a festival play. The conference opened Saturday with a social hour at 4 p.m. which was held in the Pioneer room of the Jack son hotel. Approximately 100 members and guests were present. Following the social hour a buffet dinner was served. Speaker at the dinner was William W. Patton, gen eral manager of the Oregon Shakespearean Festival of Ashland. Music during the dinner was provided by Mrs. Sue Lytle accompanied by Mrs. Edna Dougherty. Following the banquet the group attended the Saturday evening performance of "Much Ado About Nothing" at the festival shell in Ash land. An after-theatre-supper was held following the per formance. Sunday morning breakfast was held in the Pioneer room of the Jackson hotel with ap proximately 50 members at tending. Speaking at the breakfast were Mrs. Marian Walker, San Francisco, na tional first vice president and editor of the association mag azine; Mrs. Eva M. Brower, Portland, national treaswrer; Mrs. Murial F. Babcock, Eu gene, regional director; Mrs. Sadie Ward, Tacoma, past di rector; Miss Mavis Ricket, Salem, key chairman, and others. Chairmen for the gathering were Mrs. Imogene Owen, Portland and Mrs. Irene Os trander, Medford. Committee members were Mrs. Babcock, Mrs. Brower, Mrs. Ward, Mrs. Amy Seidler, Mrs. Leah Knut sen, Mrs. Ethel Miller, Miss Jeanne Starvaggi, Mrs. Marie Skaggs and Miss Esther Noggle. Table favors were supplied by the Klamath Falls, Roseburg and Spokane, Wash., clubs. In charge of local arrange ments were members of the Jackson county group includ ing Mrs. Lois Stephen, chair man; Miss Jacqueline Walk er, Miss Florence Robinson, Mrs. Marie Louise Nordwick and Mrs. Helen Peterson. On display at the hotel dur ing the two day affair were seven dolls made by Mrs. Henry Davis, Medford. The dolls were miniatures of King Henry VIII and his six wives and were made by Mrs. Davis for the meeting. Miss Helen Schoeni (center) and Mil. Eugene Earl (at right) both Cleveland, Ohio, consulted a Shakespearean festival program Thursday at luncheon before attending that night's performance of "King Lear." Miss Schoeni, instructor of dramatics at Hath away Brown school for girls in Cleveland, visited in Medford with her aunt. Mrs. Lucy Lyman (at left) 232Vi South Holly street and Mrs. Earl has been a- guest of her mother. Mis. Clinton D. Vroman, Coleman creek road, and Mr. Vroman. (Dwaine Smith photo) Committees Announced The August meeting of Rogue River chapter, Nation al Secretaries association, was held August 14 at the home of Mrs. Kathryn Thomas, Central Point. A patio dinner preceded the meeting. Committee chairmen for the 1958-59 fiscal year were an nounced. They are member ship, Mrs. Kay Thomas; ways and means, Mrs. Gwenn Cas ter; civic, Mrsl Kay Cole; education, Mrs. Jeanne Brown; budget committee, Mrs. Cas ter, Mrs. Thomas and Mrs. Marion Langley; convention, Mrs. Thomas; publicity, Mrs. Darlyne Rudd; and boss night, Mrs. Caster. , It was announced that the annual membership meeting of the chapter will be held September 11 at Rogue Val ley Country club. Any secre tary who is interested in join ing is invited to attend. A Parisian theme is planned for the annual "Boss Night" dinner to be held in Novemj ber, also at tne Country club. Monday members of the Olive Rebekah lodge will hon or her at a dinner at 6:30 p.m. at the Holland hotel. Follow ing the dinner a tribute to the president will be made during the regular session at the lodge. In charge of refreshments for the event are Mrs. Dolly Love, Mrs. C. D. Hershier, Mrs. H. M. Lewis and Mrs. G. U. Baker. Mrs. F. A. Daugherty will be in charge of flower arrangements. Tuesday Mrs. Oster will pay her official visit to the dis trict when the 50th annual convention of District 12 will be held in Central Point at the Grange hall. Registration will be held at 9 a.m. with the first session at 10 a.m. and the afternoon session at 1:30 p.m. The ban quet will be held at 6 p.m. in the Grange dining room with entertainment by ac cordion pupils of Caesar Muz zioli. During the day reports of the lodges and branches will be given and a workshop held by Mrs. Oster. Mrs. James Sullivan of Central Point will give the welcome address.
