Ceremony Held In California Of interest to valley resi dents is the wedding of Rose E. Kyle, formerly of Medford and now of Redding, Calif., and Horace D. Taylor, Cen tral Valley, Calif., that was held July 31 in Reno, Nevada. The ceremony was held in the First Methodist church with the Rev. Stephen C. Thomas officiating at the double ring rites. . The newlywed couple tra veled to Lake Tahoe and Sac ramento on their wedding trip and are making their home in Central Valley. Mrs. Taylor is employed by the California division of highways, and Mr. Taylor is emDloyed by the United States Bureau of Reclamation. 1 Dunns Here " r Mr. and Mrs. John Dunn and their three children, Kerry, Jacki and Kelly, are in Medford as guests of Mrs. Dunn's parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Finch. 794 Waverly avenue. The Dunns plan to spend a few days on the coast before returning to their home in Redlands, Calif. Mr. Dunn is principal of a Redlands ele mentary school. Zonta Picnic Zonta club will meet for a picnic Thursday, Aug. 21, at the home of Mrs. Oletha Olson. Gil man Jr. are making their home in Eugene following their wedding recently at the University Christian church, Seattle, Wash. The bride is the former Dorothy Elaine Blackburn, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. George Clark of that city. The bridegroom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert R. Gilman, 940 Ross lane, Medford. Dr. John Paul Pack offi ciated at the eight o'clock eve ning ceremony held June 14 and attended by 150 relatives and friends. Pink and white gladiolus, stock, and roses decorated the church for the wedding. Raymond Walker, Rickreal, Ore., was soloist. The bride wore a gown of white D'Aiglon lace over pale pink satin designed floor length and her fingertip length veil of white illusion tulle was held by a crown of white pearls and pink rose buds. She carried a bouquet of white orchids, stephanotis and pink rosebuds. Mr. Clark gave his daughter in marriage at the ceremony. Mrs. Lorene Guderian was matron of honor while brides maids were Miss Catherine Clark, sister of the bride, Miss Alyce Berg, and Miss Jacque line Young. They wore frocks of seaf oam green with white accessories and green satin leaves and rosebuds in their hair. Their bouquets were of pink carnations and rosebuds. Dean J. Coverstone, Salem, served as best man while Dale Coverstene, Portland, Jay Ol son and John Gaedke, seated the guests. For her daughter's wedding Mrs. Clark wore a rose lace frock with matching hat. The couple traveled to the Oregon coast on their wed ding trip. For her traveling attire the bride wore a pink silk suit with white acces sories. The bride attended Roose velt High school and the Uni versity of Washington. She was employed by United Con trol corporation as an engin eering secretary. Mr. Gilman attended Medford High school, and Southern Oregon college and is a graduate of the University of Oregon. He is credit manager for Com mercial Credit corporation in Eugene. Following the church re ception close friends and rela tives of the newlywed couple attended a small reception at the , home of the bride's parents. The evening prior to the wedding a rehearsal dinner was given by the parents of the bride at King Oscar's restaurant, Seattle. : Harpsichordist To Give Concert Ashland Stanley C. Plum mer, composer - and harpsi chordist, will play this after noon at four o'clock at the third of the Early music con certs at the Oregon Shake spearean Festival, Ashland. Mr. Plummer, who ap peared in the valley last week, will present solo selec tions during the program as well as play with the. chorus and other instruments in Bach's Cantata 118. The public is invited to at tend the concert. ' Presbyterians To Hold Meeting Phoenix The executive committee of the Women's association of First Presby terian church, Phoenix, will not meet this month. The regu lar meeting of the association will be held Thursday, August 21, at the church starting at 10:30 a.m. - Mrs. Enid Caster will lead a quiz from the June and July issues of the Outreach. Each woman attending should take a sack lunch as no luncheon committee .has been appointed. Invited to at tend the event are members of the association who are working at the Phoenix pack ing house. Coffee will be served. 1 Mrs. C. A. Stothers, who attended the leadership train ing at Lewis and Clark col lege, Portland, will report on the school. . Illinois Woman Guest in Medford Mrs. Agnes MacMeekin, Skokie, 111., is a guest of Mrs. Geraldine- M.' White, 2537 Starlite lane, Medford. Mrs. MacMeekin is a past worthy grand matron of the Order of Eastern Star in Illinois. The visitor will remain several weeks and is visiting points of interest in southern Oregon. Later she will go to Seattle for further sight-seeing in the Puget Sound area and on Vancouver island, British Columbia. Parents Announce Coming Wedding; Showers Given Eagle Point Mr. and Mrs. Emory Cunningham, route 1, box 659B, Brophy road, Eagle Point, announce the engage ments their daughter, Miss Low M. Cunningham, to Da vid M. Setness, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Setness, 733 Pine street, ' Central Point. The wedding will take place later this summer. , Miss Cunningham was grad uated from the Eagle Point High school in 1957 and is employed at the Bear Creek orchards. Mr. Setness was graduated from the Crater High school, Central Point, and is employed at the U.S. Postoffice, Medford. He is a member of the National Guard reserve. Showers were given recent ly for the bride-to-be by Miss Nelda Webb and Mrs. Cecil Norris, Eagle Point. . Veterans Receive High Score Prizes , Camp White High' scoring veterans for the month of July in the Camp White Vet erans Bridge club were Tom Randall, first; Raymond Thompson, second; Walter Grow, tfyird and Walter Humes, fourth. They were awarded prizes by the Special Services division of the camp. Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Knope, with 84 points were top scor ers in the north-south posi iion during the August 8 reg ular play session. Mr. and Mrs. Richard House scored 82 points for high in the east west position. High scores were also earn ed by Mrs. Fred Rehling and Mrs. Nell Purdin, 78, second and Mrs. George Dean and Paul Hatton, 77 third in the north-south position. In the east-west position Mr. and Mrs. Leland Clark, 72, scored second, and Mrs. E. K. Ricker and Walter Grow, 71, third. Former Resident Visitor in City Mrs. Marjorie Hopkins is spending a vacation in Med ford with friends and rela tives. Mrs. Hopkins, for many years executive secretary of the Rogue Valley Girl Scout council, now lives in Redonda Beach, Calif., and teaches school. She has been a guest of Mrs. B. C. Tennant, 325l East Jackson boulevard, and Mrs. Zelda Van Valzah, 19 Elm street. This week Mrs. Hopkins' son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Pena, Tor rance, Calif., will arrive to spend a few days here. Later they will visit relatives in Waldpoft, Ore. . Couple to Marry In Autumn Rites Mr. and Mrs. Carl W. NorT ris, 103 Lozier lane, Medford, announce the engagement of their daughter; Nancy Kath ryn, to Wendell Duane Claw son, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl H. Clawson. of 119 Portland avenue, Medford. Miss Norris is a graduate of Medford High school and for the past two years has been an employee of the United States National bans. Med ford branch. Mr. Clawson is a graduate of Beaver City High school, Beaver City, Neb., and has been an emnlovee of Western Electric company for several years, during which time he also spent three years in the United States Army. The couple plans a fall wedding. The Gee' son, John, ar rived at the Stevens home early in the summer to spend his vacation in southern Ore gon, v Mrs. Gee also visited other relatives and friends while in the valley. Meeting Planned For Past Chiefs Past Chiefs club of the Pythian Sisters will meet Wednesday, Aug. 20, at 1 p.m. at .the home of Mrs. Don Ross, Ross lane, for a covered dish luncheon and social meeting. Pythian club met last Tues day evening at the home of Mrs. Carl Fichtner, with Mrs. Edward Bostwick assisting. .
