Local and Hazards Found City Fire Marshal Truman Nelson is sued 12 orders for correction of hazards yesterday after inspecting a hotel and four business occupancies. He in vestigated two complaints of hazards in residential areas. Cited John C. Sellers, 690 South Modoc ave., was cited by city police yesterday for improper passing after his station wagon collided with a city dump truck on Biddle rd., 1,200 feet north of Jack son st. Burglary The Dale and Grimes Market on Siskiyou blvd., Ashland, was burglar ized Thursday night, accord ing to Ashland city police. A city 'officer discovered the entry at 6 o'clock this morn ing and on 'investigation learned that cigarettes, ci gars and gloves valued at about S20 were taken. (UPD An gelo John La Marca was exe cuted Thursday night for the world's most despicable crime the kidnap and abandon ment of a helpless infant. La Marca, 33, father of two, confessed he had kidnaped month-old Peter Weinberger two years ago for $2,000 ran som, and then, in a fit of panic, left the child to die under a honeysuckle bush on an isolated roadside. Portland, $61.65 62.45 ton. , Two Drown Off Newport Coast Newport (ITD Two per sons were drowned and an other was missing off the coast after they disregarded two warnings from a Coast Guard patrol boat and took their small outboard motor craft into strong tides and heavy fog here early Thursday. Coast Guard patrols re covered the bodies of Edward Clayton Downs, 74, Newport, and Elsie M. Herring, about 50, of McMinnville. Missing was Edmund Edwards of Yakima, Wash. John L. Cathers, command ing officer of the life boat sta tion at Newport, said the three persons "chose to disregard" repeated warnings about thick fog and strong ebb tides and slipped over the Yaquina bar to go salmon fishing. "Air and sea search parties looking for Edwards have been hampered by fog. Cathers said the search was to be resumed this evening, but said there was no hope that Edwards would be found alive. . He said the missing man was presumed to be wearing a life jacket since the re covered bodies were wearing them, but pointed out that the low temperature of the water and the tides precludes any hope that Edwards might have survived. State chairmen also are members of the national com mittee. Miss Robinson recently re turned from Los Angeles, where she has been working toward her doctor of music degree at the University of Southern California. This is one of six institutions in the United States which offer a doctor's degree in music. In connection with Miss Robin son's work in Los Angeles, she appeared in a Disneyland performance at Hollywood Bowl. Crows industry average index of to day's prices is up 18 cent over the average a year ago. This is the first time an im provement over yea r-ago levels has shown up in the in dustry average since the in dex was inaugurated in Sep tember of 1956. All segments making up the index rose green and kiln dried Douglas fir, and west ern pine region lumber, the lumber news service said. Strong demand and limited supply of studs, dimensions and boards of all species ac counted for the climb. Pros pects for increased produc tion, especially in British Co lumbia's interior, were seen Thursday with cooler weath er and rain in some sections.
