The victim was Georgia Kay Boyd, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Boyd of Salem. Georgia was attending a church camp at Jennings Lodge and was wth a group of 60 to 80 children. They were swimming in an area known as Wally's Dam locat ed near Clackamas. The Clackamas county cor oner's office said the girl drowned in about eight feet of water. She was with a group of children playing on a raft. Robert W. Hague, 15, of Dallas, dived and found the girl near the bottom of the pond. Artificial respiration was administered, but with out success. Grand Ronde Logger Killed in Accident , Tillamook (UPD Oral Langley, 47, of Grand Ronde was killed .Wednesday by a falling boulder while logging on the Trask river east of here. Often Dr. Alvarez 4 v, daughter writes that the par ent got decidedly better dur ing the first few weeks, and then no more improvement was seen. Or, perhaps, in the next six months there were periods when the patient was better and periods when he was worse. Perhaps after a while he had some short spells in which he was dizzy or confused or nauseated, and when apparently he had an other stroke this time a lit tle one. Usually, I think, most of the improvement after a stroke comes in the first six months, and after that I don't expect to see much better ment. Certainly, after that time, I much, doubt if the family should take their loved one from one medical center to another. I do not see how any miracle can be perform ed. If I, myself, had partly recovered from a stroke and, after six or eight months, had stopped improving, T wduld not go traveling about the country; I would not expect anywhere to find a remedy or procedure that would help me. I would know that a part of my brain had been destroyed, and I would know that no medicine could build it up again so that it would func tion normally. In the first few days, the patient can improve greatly because shock and edema (swelling with fluid) clear away. Then perhaps for six months, normal parts of the brain take over some of the functions of the destroyed area. After that, there seems to be no way in which the re maining damage can be re paired. Dr. Alvarez hopes his read ers will understand that it would be impossible for him to answer requests for infor mation or to attempt to diag nose by mail.
