One was a street Jance given by five couples who live near one another at the end of Fair Oaks drive, a "dead end" street on the ast side of the city. A juke box provided music for dancing, the entire street was lined with comic signs and refreshments were served from two large tables set up on the lawns. Pictured during the party are (left to right) r. and Mrs. Robert DeLorme, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley L. Stark, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Lewis and Mr. and Mrs. Donald Jackson. Th? Starks, Lewises and Jacksons were three of the five host couples. if mm- ffilit $$8&n$g&. Tudor guild, auxiliary organization of the Oregon Shakespearean festival association, sponsored the annual Bard's Heyday Sunday afternoon at the festival grounds in Ashland. This traditional event not only provides an opportu nity for festival fans to meet the actors, but also raises money for actors' scholarships. "Chancing on the green" is always a part of the Heyday entertainment, and here the photographer caught one of the lively moments. The O dancers, garbed in authentic Elizabethan costumes, provide entertainment before each play during the season, whicFt . opens July 28 with the traditional Feasting of the Tribe of Will in Lithia park. The Gypsy fortune teller's booth was one of the most popular spots during the Bard's Heyday last Sunday in Ashland. Mrs. Lorraine E. Henry, Medford, is shown here foretelling the future for Merle Stewart, Medford. Mrs. Henry, wearing a colorful costume and head scarf, used a deck of decks to find out what was in store for clients in coming months and years. Among the throng at the Bard's Heyday last Sunday afternoon were Dr. and Mrs. Herbert Cecil who joined with other guests in munching chess pies, and drinking coffee. Dr. Cecil, is on the music faculty of Southern Oregon college. R. B. Thierolf arrived at the Fair Oaks street dance last Saturday evening wheeling a tub full of ice filled with burning candles. He was greeted by Host Stanley Stark with a big smile and a bowl of popcorn. Among the guests at the Fair Oaks party were Berwick Wood (at right), and his brother, John Wood of Woodside,' Calif. The John Woods and sons, Kirkam and Damonj" were guests of the Medford couple forjhe week end. mil IPS tihx Danny Acklen, Grants Pass, was one of the youngsters at the Bard's Heyday who tried his hand at breaking balloons with a bow and arrow.
