Maids Lose to Buena

The Rogue Valley Dairy
Maids bowed to the Buena

team Sunday night 5-2 in an
overtime contest at the Mem

The visitors collected only
one more hit than the Maids'
five but they capitalized on
five errors by the local nine.
The Dairy Maids led off
the scoring in the second in
ning after batters from both
teams were set down in order
in the first inning and the vis
itors went down in order
again in the second.
Ellen Callaghan, top, hitter
for the evening with a'single
and triple for four times at
bat, reached first on a single
in the second. Pat Baron fol
lowed and reached second on
a fielder's choice, and Doris
Hickson then hit a single to
drive in Callaghan.
Starting pitcher for the
California nine, Ella Snook
put the next batter out and
then loaded the bases by
walking Mary Ellen Attur
bury. Relief pitcher Jan Hol
land took it from there and
fanned the next batter to re
tire the side.
In the top of the fourth the
Buena Park girls collected
two runs after having two
outs. Jan Krunic started the
rally with a single. Donna
Baxter followed with another
single with the help of a pass

girls scored.

scored her second run. After
hitting a triple she was driv
en home by Pat Baron who
was safe at first on a fielder's

without further difficulty.
Action slowed down then
until the game went into ex

eighth Cricken Virdan led
off for Buena Park with a
single and advanced to third
on an error. Pitcher Holland
then assisted her own cause
by singling to drive in what
proved to be the winning .run.
Moving to the top of the
batting order Lou Fischi then
hit a triple to drive in Hol
land. Bev. Soule followed
with a sacrifice fly to right
field and Fischi scored the
last tally of the game.
The Buena Park club crush

before it got started in, the
eighth inning when they man
euvered a double play after
lead-off batter Bernice Big

Shirley Hanson hit a line

doubled Bigham off of xirst.
