RCMP Checking Cabbie's Story Ottawa (UPI) Royal Ca nadian Mounted Police today tried to unravel the claim of a taxi driver that he had drop ped two men believed to be armed near a golf course where President Eisenhower was playing. About 30 extra constables were called in to beat the heavily-wooded Hunt and Golf Club Thursday after cabbie Nicholas Skowronski, 27, said the men had alighted at eith er end of the course. No trace of the men was found. RCMP Inspector H. S. Coop er, in charge of security dur ing the President's three-day visit, remained non-committal on Skowronski's story. Skowronski, in a stuttering voice, told Cooper that one of the men was carrying "a leather case about four feet long," which "could have con tained a rifle." The other had "a leather holster in his belt," he said. White House Press Secre tary James C. Hagerty, who briefed newsmen four hours after the incident, said Cooper gave "not too much credence" to the story. pi ) sj i 1 j k jj?
