BfegW sflkh 1 Central Point Grange Mr. and Mrs. Marshall Weid man and Mr. and Mrs. Delmar Smith represented Central Point at the Jackson County Pomona visitation meeting at QButte Falls Monday night. Mrs. Lottie Cmcaid, an Eagle Point Granger, also attended from Central Point. The visi tors reported an enjoyable evening and expressed admir ation for the Butte Falls mem bers fti their interest in their organization and the percent age of their attendance com pared with other organiza tions. Those who like cards are reminded by the committee that Friday night is the time for the public card party. The committee hopes the success of the first card party will be the subject of holding succes sive parties as means for the improvement of the hall. July 18 will be hobby night, when Grangers are requested to bring their gavorite hobby for the display table. The pro gram will be. centered around the table and given by differ ent contributors for the table. Juvenile Grangers attend ing 4-H summer school were Todd Caster, David Foote, ana Bobbie ftuest. Th HEC noted that Carl Dobrot's name was drawn as second alternate in the Spence Memorial Scholarship awards. The $200 fund is raised by the Home Economics clubs of the state to further young stu dents' education. Carl is in his pnior year at Corvallis. A ;total of 154 applications were entered in the drawing. agle Point Grange f The Eagle Point Grange met July 1 with Master Cliff Moore in the Master'! chair, there were four visitors pres ent, Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Ro berts of the Roxy Ann Grange ;and Mr. and Mrs. Olin Poe of 'the Phoenix Grange. The Agricultural committee reported that hay in Klamath county had increased in price since rain damaged so much here, prices on feeder calves and -pigs was still high "with almost any livestock market remaining very good. ...... On legislature, Mrs. Lester .iTVertz reported that congress yvaa working toward vacation time but had lots of bills to consider yet although none of ttie bills would affect the far ming industry much. She also "stated that Alaska was ex pected to soon be a state and that postage rates would go up to 4 cents August 1. . Lester Wertz said that there wejre several roads being oiled in the county and as a whole roads were in good condition throughout the county. : . HEC Chairman, Mrs. Char lie Hobved, announced the HEC met at the home of Mrs. Jake Brown on June 25, there were 14 members and 4 guests from Griffin Creek present. Guests were Mrs. Roy Levan der, Mrs. Clyde Sturgill, Mrs. Harold Tolle, and Mrs. Iva Harper. Display table for this , meeting consisted of Tin Can Craft made by ftft-s. Hoover. I Charl& Hoover reported that a hearing on the Camp .White hospital was to be held in Washington, D. C, on July 10 and he also announced the picnic for Ben Tucker will be held July 20 at 1 p.m. in the Tou Velle park. , Master Cliff Moore announ ced that the third and fourth degree work would be held at the August 5 meeting of the Eagle Point Grange if possible. A discussion was held to see if it would be pos sible to reorganize a first and second degree ten, Mrs. Les ter Wertzas appointed to see about getting a team together. Chaplain Mrs. Augusta Perry announced that Mrs. Frank Chamberlain had been ill but was feeling better at this time. For her Lecturer's program, Mrs. Gertrude Stanley gave a resuie of her trip as delegate to the Oregon State Grange convention. She also called on Roscoe Roberts for a report on the insurance meeting held in conjunction with the state session. Mrs. Olin Poe, district HEC chairman, gave a short talk about the HEC display at state Grange and said that Mrs. El ga Abbott of Butte Falls won first place with her hooked ig. Mrs. Poe also said that there would rt be a canning contest this yer. At the next Grange meeting July 15, Mrs. Jim Edge will show coJShred movies f their recent trip to Florida.
