Mr. and Mrs. Harold Field ef El. Monte, Calif., are house guests of Field's brother and ister-m-law. Mr. and Mrs, George Field, of Trail. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Jantzer and Mr. and Mrs. John Jant zer of Grants Pass and Mr, and Mrs. Floyd Kelley of Shady Cove. Mrs. Kelley is sister of Bill, John and Charles Zantzer. Other guests of the Kelley's have been Mr. and Mrs. Charles L. Fran cis and children, Grant, Carla and Mary be th,' of Grants Pass. The Francis formerly lijyd in Shady Cove. Ralph Barr and daughter, Pat of Redmond, visited friends in the area last week. The Barr's recently moved to Redmond from Shady Cove. . Mr. and Mrs. Howard Towle of Oakland, Calif., are visiting their ' T&rother-in-law, Ed Strother, of Shady Cove, sad working on their house and propeVty along the river. Mrs. Strother accompanied har son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Eric Bauer, on a vacation trip to Wisconsin where Mrs. ejtrother will visit her five brothers0 in Eau Claire, and the Bauers will visit his parents in Mil-waukie. Mr. and Mrs. Dick Bartuss of Sjzady Cove entertained with a dinner party at their horn last week. The box social and dance spQisored by the County Playhouse as a grand open ing event and first social af fair in the new clubhouse was a success. A group of friends who made an outing to Diamond Lake about 20 years ago spending a week together there have a reunion every several years. This year the group met for luncheon at the Jackson hotel in Medford. Those attending were Mrs. Lyle Tucker and Mrs. Eliza beth Nichols of Ashland; Mrs. Roy Vaughn of Trail, Mrjs. Ernest Segessenman of Shady Cove, Mrs. Violet Ditsworth of Portland, Mrs. Alma Mal lery of Central Point and Mrs. Jennie Hutchinson and Mrs. Millie Blaess of Medford. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Morehead of Trail have their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Bence and daughters, Nancy and Kathy, of San Mateo, Calif., visiting them for awhile. WELL, OP ALL THE THINKS Gunman Found To Be Woman s . Los Angeles (UPI) Police arrested what they thought was a gruff, tough-talking gunman Wednesday after a Western Union office was robbed of $30. P When they got to the sta tion,: though, they found the suspect was not a menacing gunman but a gunwoman, her hair- cut man style, and attired in tan trousers, white shirt and. sports jacket. The dark -haired suspect was identified as Barbara May Wickser, 23, Laguna Beach, Calif. She revealed she was a woman, after arriving at the police station. "She sure fooled me," said Sgt. W. C. Morrell, who took the young woman into custody a block away from the West ern Union office. I thought she was really a man. So did Mrs. Barbara John son, 25, clerk at the Western Union office who handed over the money, and Lee Richrnan, 40, who grabbed the suspect but let go when she threatened to shoot him. Police - said Miss Wickser had a record for robbery and narcotic violations. Kenneth. (Tex) . Mr. and Mrs. William Dud ley of San Diego spent Satur day visiting Dudley's aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Athel Dudley, of Shady Cove. Profitable San Francisco (UPI) Billy Graham's San Francisco crusade' wound' up $27,154 in the black. - A report by the San Fran cisco' Bay Cities Crusade, which sponsored Graham's re cent seven-week appearance in. the Cow Palace, showed a total of $518,156 in receipts and $489,002 in expenditures. The $27,154 net profit will support future crusades in other cities. Graham's salary was paid by the Billy Graham Evan gelistic Association in Minne apolis. The telegram was sent by Dave Epps, state Democratic chairman, and by C. Girard Davidson, Democratic nation al committeeman. They point ed, to current unemployment and said the dam was needed for flood control and power: Diamond Lake Camp To Open Next Week Camping at the Young Men's Christian association's Diamond Lake Camp gets un der way Sunday, July 13. Roseburg and Medford will camp together for two one week periods. A total of 72 boys will be in camp each week. YMCA officials said there is still room for more campers in any of the periods. Following the periods in which Roseburg camps with Medford there will be two periods of Medford boys only. One of the highlights of each week in camp is an ex ploration day in which the youngsters. climb mountains, hike and explore the lake re gions. A trained counselor Is with the boys. Activities scheduled for youngsters at camp include archery, riflery, hiking, swim ing, diving, campfire, games, crafts, boating, sailing and many more. Following the boys' periods at Diamond Lake camp there will be a pe riod for girls. Approximately 72 girls will camp from Sun day, Aug. 10, through Satur day., Aug. 16. There is still room for girls to register. Diamond Lake camp is opeif to any youngster, whether or not he is a member of the as sociation. Boys and girls 8 through 15 may camp. Lebanon Man Dies At Mill at Foster Sweet Home, Ore. -(UPI) Gordon Hessel, Lebanon, fa ther of nine children, died at a sawmill at Foster Wednes day, apparently of a heart attack. Gunman Gets Cash Af Portland Market Portland (UPI) A dapper gunman wearing dark glasses and a straw hat held up a Safeway store Wednes day night making off with the contents of the store's eight cash registers. The thief accosted one of the clerks in a storeroom at the rear of the store and forced him to go to the front of the store and clean out all eight of the money , boxes, in vestigating officers said. The holdup took place dur ing the pre-closing rush, po lice said. There were 40 to 50 persons in the store, many of whom didn't know a hold up was taking place. . t The exact amount of money the thief made off with was not disclosed.
