she did not believe that her
husband would be harmed by
Cuban rebels during the time
he was their prisoner.
Salmonson was one of the
first five North Americans re
leased by the rebels, who cap
tured 30 Americans and Ca
nadians in recent days. Mrs.
Salmonson said it was "won
derful news" and "a big re
lief" to learn her husband had
been freed.
She said her family left
there was little chance Sal
monson and the other host
ages would be harmed. The

Little Girl Drowns

nesday night as a baby girl
was drowned as eight persons
were tossed into the water.
All the occupants of the
boat were rescued except lit
tle Sheryl Dee Ann Hicks, 30-month-old

er road. He and Dewey Har

ed to the scene in Bissio's boat
to make the rescue. The two
families were clinging to the
capsized craft in the middle
of the water and attempts to
dive for the baby's body were
unsuccessful.
