Maglie, winning his second game for the Cards since they obtained him from the Yan kees on June 14, had a shut out until Carl. Sawatski hom ered with one out in the ninth inning. Green hit his homer with the bases full off loser Curt Simmons to highlight a five run rally in the first inning. The Ph$s pulled a triple play in the seventh inning, started by second baseman Solly Hernus on Ken Boyer's liner. Bob Skinner, one of the three- Pirates elected to the National league all-star team, drove in three runs to help Pittsburgh snap a seven-game losing streak with a 7-3 tri umph over Chicago. . Roy Smith, a commissioner of the federal mediation and conciliation service here, an nounced that a settlement had been reached between the company and local No. 5-3 of the International Woodwoork 'ers of America with the as sistance of the federal media tion service. Both parties agreed to rec commend the settlement to gtheir principals. The union will call a membership meet ing at an early date and, if accepted, work will be re sumed immediately, Smith said. Details of the settlement were not made available. Two hundred workers have been idle since June 5 as a result of the strike. TRIAL DETAILS WANTED The Hague, The Nether lands (UPI) The Inter national Commission of Jur ists said Saturday it had ask ed Communist Hungary for details of a new secret trial of Hungarian freedom fight ers. The commission said it had information identifying the defendants as Mrs. Julia Rajk. Gabor Tanfos and San dor Baraszti. They were said to have taken refuge in the Yugoslav Embassy in Buda pest when the 1956 Hungari an revolt was crushed by Soviet tanks. It takes about five quarts of milk to make one pound of American cheese. Raydon yielded seven Cub hits in the 5 13 innings he pitched and reliever Bob Por terfield held Chicago to one hit over the final 3 23 in nings. The Milwaukee Braves scored their first victory of the season over Los Angeles, 7-3. The Braves previously had lost seven straight games to the Dodgers this season and nine in a row dating back to last September. Rookie Carlton Willey scor ed his second victory of the season with a four-hitter. One of the Dodgers' hits was a homer by Gil Hodges. South paw Johnny Podres started for the Dodgers and lasted only one-third of an inning when he walked two men with the bases loaded to force in two runs. That gave the Braves a lead they never lost. Homer uns by Hank Aaron and Johnny Logan enabled the Braves to beat a left-hander for the first time in. 10 tries this year. The Cincinnati Redlegs took advantage of an error by pitcher Ramon Monzant to score all their runs in the sixth inning and beat the San Francisco Giants, 8-2, in a night game that rounded out Gallant Man Heads West Inglewood, Calif. (UPI) Gallant Man, a leading candi date for Horse of the Year honors, will come west for the $162,100 Hollywood Gold Cup race July 12, t was an nounced Saturday. However, renewal of Gal lant Man's rivalry with Round Table seems unlikely. Round1 Table currently is racing in Chicago, although he origin ally was nominted for the Gold Cup. John Nerud, Gallant Man's trainer, said that the four-year-old would be flown . to Hollywood Park some time next week, although no defi nite date had been picked. Nerud said a decision would be made later on whether to enter Gallant Man in the $100,000 added Sunset Handi cap July 22 at Hollywood. NO POLLUTION Berlin, N. H. (UPD The Brown Co. pulp and paper mill has converted to an anti pollution process designed to keep the mill operating at ca pacity year-round. The mill in past years has had to cur tail production on occasion during summer months be cause of the pollution prob lem when the water level dropped in the Androscoggin river. The Whiters will be hosts to the Army contingent on Wednesday, July 2 at the VA's Memorial stadium. Play ball is planned for 8 p.m. Four members of the Pres idio Toreros' crew are prop erty of major league teams, and four have played minor league ball. Three pitchers on the Army team are major loop farm hands, West Stock with Bal timore, Roger Sawyer with Burly Will Attend UO Cottage Grove (UPI) Dy rol Burleson, holder of the na tional high school mile recqrd, has announced that he will en ter the University of Oregon this fall. Burleson, a Cottage Grove high school ace whose mark was recently recognized as a new national standard, estab lished the prep record at a meet in Corvallis. He did the mile in 4:13.2. Later, competing against college track stars in Califor nia, Burleson ran a 4:11 mile, the best in his career but it cannot be accepted as a high school record. Much Sought After Burleson was one of the most sought after track ath letes in Oregon history. At Oregon he will come un der the coaching of Bill Bow erman, one of the nation's best coaches of distance runners. Bowerman has coached such stars as Jim Bailey, Ken Reis er,' Jim Grelle and Bill Dellinger. Burleson's high school coach, Sam Bell, recently was signed as head track coach at Oregon State college. Maddox gained ail-American recognition at University of Oregon, Bellanti played at University of San Francisco and Hinnigan at Villanova college. Other former collegians listed on the Army roster are Bill Julian, second base, Au burn college; Mike Drum mery, shortstop, Orange Coast Junior college; Walt Barrett, third base, Pasadena college; Charles Gritts, out fielder, College of Pacific; Mike Sezate, catcher, Arizona State, and Paul Belafer, Bos ton college. John Vicivich is manager and utility outfielder on the squad and Frank Kramer is a utility pitcher and outfielder. Jet Planes Fly to Florida, Back in Day Spokane (UPI) Four KC 135 jet transport tanker planes landed at Fairchild Air Force base Friday after a round trip flight to Florida in what was the largest move ment of troops by jet trans port in the United States. Col. Donald E. Hillman, 92nd Wing commander, said the planes left Spokane at 12:40 a.m. Friday carrying 250 military personnel, flew to Elgin Air Force base in Florida, and returned that afternoon.
