Cane Berry Harvest Starts in County
The cane berry harvest start
ed and the local strawberry
harvest was about comDleted
this week, according to Don
Berry, county extension agent
for horticulture. -
The red raspberry harvest
in this area is now under way,
and the boysen and black
berries are just starting, he
said.
Local prices are about $2
per ' crate at the field, Berry
noted.
Current cool weather could
be beneficial to the cane berry
harvest if it does not last too
long, since .it would help ber
ries obtain larger sizes. People
interested in obtaining the
local production should not
wait too long to obtain berries
since the season is short, he
said. " i
