Library' Entered The Med ford public library was brok en into sometime between 9:15 p.m. Thursday and 8 a.m. iiiday, city police reported; Several offices were ransack ed, but nothing was reported missing. Police reported that a window was broken to gain entry. Congratulated Ben Hatha way, Gold Hill, was congratu lated this week by M. Rey Dodson, president of Ohio Na tional Life Insurance com pany, for his outstanding achievement in the firm's an nual sales contest recently. Hathaway is general agent for the company in this area. He joined the company in 1947. Collision Ambrose Eathen Grance, post office box 313, Eagle Point, was cited by city police Thursday morning fol lowing a two-car accident at the intersection of Eighth and Bartlett sts. No injuries were reported. M a r y . Elizabeth Schade, 1704 East Main st., Medford, was driver of the other automobile, according to reports. Son Born Cmdr. and Mrs. Donald R. Gillespie are par ents of a son born June 25 in Colombo, Ceylon. Com mander Gillespie is the Unit ed States Naval attache in Colombo. The Gillespies have three daughters, Donna, Patsy and Karen. Commander Gil lespie is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Everett Gillespie, 308 Ard more ave. Sweet Home Man Dies of Injuries , Lebanon, Ore. (UPI) Frank Sodoma Jr., 53, of Sweet Home, died in a hospi tal here early, today of chest and internal injuries suffered late Thursday night in a head on collision two miles south of Lebanon on Highway 20. Hospitalized and in fair condition today was the vic tim's wife, Mary Sodoma and Arnold Neuman, 38, Salem, driver of the other car. Linn county sheriff's offi cers said they were unable to determine the exact cause of the collision since the two sur vivors could not be questioned immediately. Goodman, route 1, box 403, Medford, recently graduated from recruit training at the Naval Training center, San Diego, Calif. BLYTH Private graveside funeral services for Lewis S.rBlyth, 64, of route 2, box 477, Med ford, who died Thursday, will be held at Memory Gardens Memorial park, Saturday at 9 a.m. The Rev. John Rey nolds of the First Presbyte rian church, will officiate. Conger-Morris, funeral direc tors, are in charge of ar rangements. Mr. Blyth was born in Or rick, Mo., Feb. 22, 1894. On Nov. 24, .1921, in Pipestone, Minn., he was married to Miss Carol Russell, who'survives: Mr. Blyth had been em ployed for 25 years by the Pacific Telephone company and retired April 5, 1954. Since that time he has operat ed the Lewis Nursery near Jacksonville on the Old Stage rd. Other survivors include one sister, Mrs. Nellie Mallin, Seattle, Wash. Mr. Blyth was the son-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Russell, of Medford. The body will lie1- in state in the Gold room at Conger Morris, Friday evening. JAY P. ANDREWS Jay P. Andrews, 63, who was a resident of Jackson ville for the past 16 months, died there" Wednesday. Funeral "services will be held at 2 pirn. ' ' - Mr. Andrews was born in Lamar, Mo., Jan. 23, 1895. For a number of years he operated a ranch near Bon anza, Ore., until ill health forced him to retire. Gains of a point or more were fairly numerous in the main list. All major groups except steels displayed strength. Chemicals again were up side leaders, with DuPont, Foote Mineral and Eastman Kodak up more than a point each. Fractional gains pre dominted in the rails. There was selective buying of oils.
