Washington Man Sentenced in Court The probation of Billie Joe Lassman, 29, Seattle, Wash, was revoked this week and i three-year sentence to the Oregon state penitentiary im posed by Circuit Judge Ed ward Kelly. Lessman is being held in the county jail pending trans fer to the penitentiary. : Circuit Judge Kelly signed an order Monday revoking Lessman's probation. He had pleaded guilty in December when , appearing on charges of unlawful possession of nar cotics. He was placed on pro bation- after being given three-year suspended sen tence. . He was recently convicted in Siskiyou county, Califor nia, of unlawful possession of narcotics. Bob Crosby's Son Nabbed in Theft Try West Los Angeles (UPI) Christopher D. Crosby, 15, son of bandleader Bob Crosby, was arrested Thursday night with a teen age friend on charges they tried to go joy riding in a sport car.-'' Police said young Crosby, of Beverly Hills, and "Jeffrey Lee Davidson, 16, West Los Angeles, admitted stopping at the residence of Peter Heisser, in the Bel-Air Area, and try ing to push his Corvette but of the driveway. Heisser heard them and called police who took the youths into custody. Crosby was later released to his moth er, June, and the Davidson boy to his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Davidson. Officers said the ignition key was in the Corvette. Highway Group Awards Contracts Portland (UPI) The Ore gon Highway Commission Thursday awarded contracts on 46 projects in 24 counties totaling $11,474,884. The total will be raised to about $13 million by additions for con tingencies and engineering costs. ...... It was a record one-day award session for the Commis sion which opened bids on the projects at two earlier meet ings in Salem. One of the awards was the biggest ever made for grading a highway route. It was for $2,544,745 to Morrison-Knud; sen Co., Boise, for work on the Coast highway in Curry coun ty, where a $12 million im provement project " is under way. The specific work called for in the contract was exca vation of 4,255,000 cubic yards of earth materials on 3.21 miles of the Hooskanaden Creek-Thomas Creek section of the highway. ." Rafael Trujillo Jr., son of the strong man and nephew of the Presi dent. ield Visits National Guard Salem (UPI) Secretary of State Mark Hatfield took in numerous activities of Ore gon's National Guard during a two-day visit to Fort Lewis, Wash., and Camp Clatsop wdiich was completed Thurs day night. Hatfield, a World War II Navy veteran, sat in on a night firing range briefing, in spected two kitchens before reveille next morning, break fasted with a company from Bend, tossed hand grenades, fired a 50 caliber machine gun, ate out of a mess kit in the field and watched en gineers bridging a pond. At Camp Clatsop he watch ed anti-aircraft practice and took a lesson in radar. The secretary said it was a "real inspiration" to see the units in action. The service said buyers were attempting to place orders at a dollar less than prevailing prices while most mills were not willing to sell for de pressed prices. Crow's reported demand for fir and hemlock by water levelling off as buyers wait for lower prices. Plywood sheathing con tinues in heavy demand at prices up sharply over three weeks ago.
