Frank McKennon, chief of the plant industry division of the state department of agri culture, said that the United States Food and Drug admin istration has declared a tol erance 25 parts per million of total combined bromide resi due as result of fumigation. The Oregon department of agriculture and Oregon State college requested an official tolerance i.and have been working for it for more than a year. Experimental work at Oregon State college shows that the residues from fumi gation of cherries will not ex ceed the tolerance just estab lished. Prior to this time, Califor nia and Idaho have not ac cepted fresh cherries from Oregon because of the cherry fruit fly and the unknown residual quantity of the ethy lene dibromide fumigation. McKennon pointed out that all fumigation on fresh cher ries must be conducted under the supervision of the Oregon state department of agricul ture. For California shipment, Obituaries ' ALBERTA V.
