Obituary KENNETH BISRUDE Kenneth Bisrude, 45, of 5096 South Pacific highway, Medford, died June, 11 at his residence. He was born May 23, 1913 in Monona county, Iowa. Mr. Bisrude came to Al bany, Ore., with two brothers as a young man and married Geraldine Conner, Ashland, in 1941. They have made their home in the Ashland, Phoenix, Klamath Falls area since that time. He is a member of Phoenix Church of Christ. Survivors include his wid ow, two children, Eula . Lee and Kenneth Leroy, and four brothers and five sisters. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Litwiller's Funeral, home, Ashland. WILLIAM R. DICKERT William Robert Dicket, 91, of Central Point, died last night in a local hospital. Fu neral arrangements will be announced by Conger-Morris, funeral directors. In addition to vacancies made by the departing of Manager E. K. Ricker and Dr. Wallace Pianka, chief medical officer, two other posts are to be filled as assist ant engineer and assistant do miciliary officer. Ray Wilson, assistant domi ciliary officer, is being trans ferred to the VA hospital, Ft. Bayard, N. M., where he will return to the medical depart ment as chief pharmacist, Ricker announced. Ernest Hesser, laboratory technician, is leaving the Vet erans administration to join the fish and wild life service of the department of the in terior, at Cook, Wash. Woman Found Dead In Ashland Home Ashland Mrs. Edna Fred- ricka Lowe, 68, was found dead at her home at 1999 Eagle Mill rd. Wednesday aft ernoon. Death was apparently due to a self-inflicted gun shot, according to investigat ing sheriff's deputies. She was said to have been ill and despondent. Mrs. Lowe was born Aug. 28, 1889, in Dunsmuir, Calif., and had made her home in Ashland for the majority of the past 45 years. She married Jewell Lowes in Yreka, Calif., Nov. 25, 1913. Mrs. Lowe was a mem ber of First Methodist church, Ashland; Alpha Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, Ashland Acres club, and many community affairs. She is survived by her hus band, a brother, Melvin G Carpenter, Eureka, ana sev eral nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday, Jun 13, at 1:30 p.m. at Litwiller's Mountain View chapel. The Rev. Ross Knotts of First .Methodist church will officiate. Inter ment will be at Mountain View cemetery. Officers Elected By Beverage Dealers James A. Meeting Ashland Problems of pro viding adequate housing for persons more than 65 years old were outlined at a meet ing of the Ashland Chamber of Commerce this week. Speakers were Mrs Velma Jones, chamber secretary, and Mrs. Fred Rankin, Medford, a member of the Oregon Coun cil on Aging. They said plans for a village of 100 units for senior citizens was being con sidered. Mrs. Jones noted that under recent legislation, FHA loans may be obtained for construc tion of low-rental housing for senior citizens. A sponsoring group is required to provide 10 per cent of the capital in vestment, either in cash or property. She said the Jackson Coun ty Council on Aging is giving consideration to a 100-unit rental development and seve ral sites at Eagle Point and Rogue River. Mrs. Rankin pointed out that such a development would provide modern, com fortable living at a rental cost which a couple on pension could afford. Such a village would include some cottage type structures for couples, anoFsmaller units for men and women who have no families. She said the county council hopes to get at least one such unit started in the future. . Three Appear in District Court Raymond La Grande De Marr, Jr., Medford, has been released from the Jackson county jail where he was held on charges of being a fugitive from justice. De Marr was released when a letter was received , by county authorities Monday from Hunterdon county, New Jersey, authorities saying they had insufficient evidence on which to hold De Marr, ac cording to the district court. In other district court ac tions, Ray Sargent, no address given, ' pleaded guilty to charges of making a false statement. He was given a sus pended sentence of one year iri the county jail. The charg es were reduced from that of uttering and publishing a false check. Gordon Casey, Medford, was fined S55 after he plead ed guilty to giving liquor to five minors on May 17. Thirty days in the county jail was suspended. Carlos E. Morrison, no ad dress given, pleaded guilty to failure to stop and give aid to domestic animals, and was fined $20. Morrison was charged with killing one cow and injuring three May 15 on the Butte Falls highway. The complaint was signed by Verma R. Mat thews. ' Phair Fined $100 For Slot Machines Roseburg Richard G. Phair, 57, Medford, was fined $100 and costs by District Judge Warren A. Woodruff Wednesday on a charge of il legal possession of slot ma chines. Woodruff also signed an order directing Sheriff , Ira C. Byrd to destroy the 17 ma chines found in Phair's posses sion when he was arrested on an anonymous tip to state po lice here Sunday. At the time of his arrest, Phair admitted ownership of the machines but refused to say where he was taking them. Phair, secretary of the Med ford Elks club, posted $500 bond at the time of his arrest and was released from county jail. He was represented at the hearing by his attorney, Rob ert M. Stults. Myrtle Creek Woman Arrested for Theft ' Mrs. Lancet V. Paroz, 34, Myrtle Creek, was lodged in the county jail by state police early today in connection with the theft of an auto be longing to her ex-husband. Police said they arrested Mrs. Paroz after receiving a bulletin from Roseburg au thorities. She was accompanied by her daughters, aged 3 and 6, who were turned over to ju venile authorities. He succeeds Keegan Townsend, who resigned to become dis trict commander. McKenzie, formery chap lain for the 1 post, has been active in the Legion the past 25 years, serving on many committees. McKenzie will take office in July after the state convention. 4 CLUB -ITU NEWS Anlelopo 4-H Cooking Club - The Antelope 4-H Cooking club met June 10 at the homi of Jennifer Neven. Plans were made for the club's over night trip to McKee bridge on June 26 and 27. The Brownie Contest girls are to have a baking day July 22 at Jenni fer Neven's home. The Muffin and Bread Baking Contest girls are to meet July 23 at Edith Bohnert's home. ' The company bid $6,523.40. Other bidders were , the Graybar, company, Eugene,. $6,590.64, and Line Material company, Portland, S7.446.60. Weldrite company "of San Francisco was awarded a con tract to furnish poles. The firm bid $6,384 for 42 poles, the same as the bid, submitted by Line Material' company.. The council chose the Weld rite company's bid because heavier poles were offered.
